24.01.2022 I love teaching my Yin Yoga class at SPHC on Friday evenings. This week’s theme was self-love. We were working with the ideas of compassion and kindness to oneself. Self-love is a practice and a journey. One of the best things we can do for ourselves is practice treating ourselves as our own best friend.

20.01.2022 When going through stressful situations, a helpful way to calm the body and mind is by practicing abdominal breathing. To practice, find a comfortable seat and gently place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Inhale through your nose for a count of four, and exhale through your nose for a count of four. Continue this breathing cycle for a few minutes and notice the body and mind start to relax.

As humans, we have a natural tendency to focus on what goes wrong in our everyday lives and rarely spend any time dwelling on the good things. Appreciating the good things and practicing gratitude can have a positive effect our physical, mental and emotional well-being. A ritual you can use to incorporate gratitude into your everyday is to write down daily three things you are grateful for. These things can be as simple as being grateful for the sun shining outside or the ability to walk. Being thankful for even the smallest things can have a great impact on our overall happiness and well-being.



16.01.2022 After a long day of work or whenever you feel tired, stressed or anxious, take a moment to notice your breath. Be kind to yourself and take a slow, soft, smooth inhalation and a slow, soft smooth exhalation. You’re body and mind will thank you.

04.01.2022 Today I wrote an essay/ reflection with the topic being ‘Why do I meditate’. Reflecting upon this question brought up various reasons why I meditate including that I meditate because it helps me to feel balanced, it is a way for me to focus inwards, it helps to re-energize me and helps me to feel calm and relaxed.
