25.01.2022 If you were in my home right now, this would be the view/look you would see of me.. Basking in the glow of the computer screen hidden away in the bedroom. We even have family visiting at the moment, and Im pretty tired, worn out, itchy eyes and runny nose and generally just a little over day to day life stuff to be honest.... I am however slowly chipping away at quite a number of sessions in the final edit stages - 20 still to go until Im officially caught up to be exact. Its been a huge couple of months since this post covid catch up begun. Just to give you an idea, during this catch up period, I have photographed 39 regular sessions, 4 shorter mini sessions, and 13 extended day shoots so far since mid June. To put that in a bit of perspective, 3 various types of bookings is a fairly busy week for me normally. Its been 10 weeks since things kicked back off, so works out to roughly 5.6 various shoot types per week. Thats almost double my regular workload and not many days left in between to do all the things . I also kicked off a new branch of my business right alongside this amazing time!! As you do.. lucky I love it!! Im running about 2-3 weeks behind currently, as I like to have orders turned around within the same sort of a time frame of a shoot day itself, and Ive got a just a few lined up still. Im ever so grateful for your understanding, and please know that this doesnt normally happen but I did want to be up front with a little explanation as to how/why there may be a little delay with final galleries this month xxx So please know, Im still trudging along, one by one, sending off new sets of galleries every couple of days - and Ill update you as soon as anything changes AND when I get myself all updated too #editingday #photographerlife #keepingitreal #karrathaphotographer #felicityfordphotography

24.01.2022 Putting the finishing touches on this inspiring womans gallery and thought Id share a quick before and after edit to give a little bit of an insight into the process. Shooting in the middle of the day can have its drawbacks including really really bright spots and really really dark shadows - so to counteract that I try to shoot that little bit on the dark side with the intention of bringing the lighting up selectively, and enhancing the beautiful colours of the water/lan...dscape in post. 23.01.2022 Its becoming a bit of a thing isnt it? Ive always been a fan of a good road trip, but this is actually my third on location Broome visit for photo shooting purposes AND having the honour of working alongside some of my favourite north west women in business has been fabulous as always!! I feel so lucky to be able to meet and work with such inspiring women of the North West, and Id love to keep it up. Id say every couple of months would be just about perfect to get on... the road and head north, and Id love to sneak in another trip before the end of 2020 if theres enough interest. 18.01.2022 We all start somewhere. This was from my very first paid Christmas photo shoot - and I don't know if these cuties' mum still follows along, but I'd like to send her my love!! I charged $80 for my sessions back in 2010. And you received all the images I took, plus all of my creative edits if you were lucky and I had time this shot was taken in their dark living room with the overhead lights on from memory, in a house about half way down Cockatoo Gate, Australind (I'm pretty... sure this was right - I remember weird things..). AND I edited out the background to make it all black in Photoshop Elements or it may even have been Paint - I may have still been working in that - who knows now.. Oh, AND I was often feeling the guilts because "oh my goodness they just paid me 4 times my good paying job's hourly rate to do something fun like photograph their children" - so I started throwing in a bunch of extra prints too at the time - that probably cost me almost all of that $80 by the time I got them printed and sent down to Bunbury back then!! But I digress.. What I wanted to share this beautiful example of my work from back then for was to show that we all start somewhere, and this mumma (and I) absolutely LOVED these photos of her babies and that was the reason why I totally fell in love with this 'job'. I wanted to see that pride and joy on mummas faces when they went through their photos and shared them on with their family and friends. Thank you again mumma, and to these two lil munchkins (who would be a lot older these days) wherever you are - I will always be grateful for your trust and belief in me back then.. 16.01.2022 See this blurry screenshot - this is the last family photo we had taken in the Pilbara together - its also the first one we had taken when we first moved to Tom Price back in 2016. It was taken by the lovely @tinaelliottphotography who has since become one of my good friends and shell probably have words with me about why I didnt put a better quality version up on my socials BUT this is actually the point.. I dont have a better quality photo to share because my usb from... this shoot got damaged during the cyclone earlier this year ( backup backup backup) , and I never did get any images printed for the wall because at the time I didnt like myself in photos. Now, if youve been to my home youll know we have a lot of photos of our family up on the walls, but none with me in them here in the Pilbara.. Sure theres photos of Lon and the kids up on the walls that Ive taken myself, but by avoiding being in the photos myself, and not printing them like I have others around my home for my family and friends to see, youd be forgiven to think that my kids and my hubby have lived alone in the Pilbara for the past 4 years without me.. 04.01.2022 Personal Post Alert Its an iPhone shot at dusk whilst we were driving home from our own turn in front of the camera last night but its the guy I love, the one who not only took on two babies that werent his own all those years ago, but helped me bring two more into the world and treated them no different to the first.
