25.01.2022 Time out for some KI coastal wow #kangarooisland #seesouthaustralia #timeout #feltstories #realsocial

22.01.2022 Given the pause time and current ongoing restrictions around the Parafield cluster, Amanda and I have taken to the decision to reschedule our December Live.Love.Learn event. We'll be in touch with a new date for the new year very soon! x Jess

22.01.2022 It really is time to go back to the drawing board on what successful actually looks like, and empower heart*felt*, compassionate business - trying NOT to have it all - as an incredibly important part of the mix. The time has arrived. A time for business with heart... #nomorehustle #awholelotmoreheart

21.01.2022 Introducing our final panel guest for Live.Love.Learn next Thursday 17th September, Brooke Lampit of Lambrook Wines Brooke is co-owner of Lambrook Wines with husband Adam Lampit, a business they established in 2008 with two small parcels of fruit (Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc) and a half-crazy idea of making it into our own label wine. It was something they had always wanted to do it was a dream to have people ordering their wines in restaurants, so, when they were offered th...ese parcels of spectacular quality fruit, they thought let’s just go for it! Lambrook are uncompromising about what they make - if the fruit isn’t up to scratch, they simply won’t make the wine. Brooke and Adam are passionate about creating wines that over-deliver on price and love being involved in the wine industry. Maintaining relationships with everyone they work with and sell to, and celebrating and promoting all things Adelaide Hills, is a cornerstone of what Lambrook is about. 2020 has been a big year so far, starting with bushfire that severely impacted some of their growers, ultimately delivering a long lasting impact to their portfolio moving forward, a tough vintage and then COVID. Lambrook Wines are a direct to market wine business, wholesale and online, without a cellar door to support them at times when the restaurant trade all but disappeared. Like so many businesses through this year, COVID has forced them to re-evaluate, reinventing the way they stay connected with customers and how they deliver their wines to market. Wholesale has been down although they continue to sell into SA, NSW and VIC, albeit with trade impacted in the latter for obvious reasons. Direct to the consumer, retail and online trade have been on the up though, a positive in a year of real ups and downs. We look forward to hearing more of these challenges from a business that has experienced the full range in 2020 when Brooke joins us for Live.Love.Learn. #heartfeltbiz #livelovelearnyourbusiness http://bit.ly/LIVELOVELEARN2

17.01.2022 In Live.Love.Learn last week we touched on the working week when you own your own biz. Acknowledging the positives but also debunking the romantic notions that a social media world has ALOT to answer for... no lazing on Sun loungers with my laptop here!! I work 7 days a week in some capacity. To begin with I really struggled with this, but couldn’t stay on top of my work load and the 24/7 of social media without it. Now I accept it as part and parcel of the the ‘own’ biz mode...l. If my kids have something mid week I need to get to, I’m there. If they’re sick? I’m there. The positive/ negatives of running your own biz... But one area that is truly hard to manage is taking holidays. The nature of what I do means I can 'travel' with my work but then I am just not present. I get flustered and stressed out by trying to be everything to everyone... mum, partner, playmate, consultant, responsive, efficient. So I haven’t taken many in the last 5 years. The last one was in 2018 for a glorious trip to see my brother Britannia Brewing Company & Britannia Steveston in Canada, see my delish niece and nephew and check out Hawaii too. Memories were made, no question. The organisation required to get there though . Xmas 2019 was going to be my next big one. 2 weeks hanging at home with a full digital detox. As I sent my client email on December 20th to formally ‘knock off’, notifications starting popping up on my phone regarding a fire at Cudlee Creek in the Adelaide Hills. A phone call from my client, EO of the Adelaide Hills Wine Region, Kerry Treuel, confirmed my fears. The next 2 weeks were a blur. The next month really. So Easter it was! A week meeting one of my best friends in Bendigo with our kids. Hanging and connecting. I think we all know how that went... I am not telling this story as a singular experience, as so many have had the toughest of the tough in 2020, and it's ongoing. This post is more a comment on what so many businesses have learnt this year. That we have to work differently. That keeping the work ticking over is very important. That good mental health is primary. And that we’re really very grateful for the small things. I’m grateful for flexibility, warm and strong client relationships and now this little team - who are keeping the hearth fires burning, actually making it possible for me to sign off for the next week and hang with my lads. We’re off ‘overseas’, to that magic place (only just discovered by this NSW girl in the last 4 years), Authentic Kangaroo Island. So be prepared for some island love letters but not much else for a spell. Jess Meg Hansen Photography

17.01.2022 The 11th of September is my birthday. It was also the day in September 2007, I found out my second son had died in utero. I was 5 months pregnant. He was born, in the labour ward, amongst the sounds of living babies, at 1.40am on the 13th September. He was born fast thanks to the amazing synergy of the people that came into my life that day. From the midwife who delivered my first born and was knocking off shift when she saw my name, to my best friends holding my hand in la...Continue reading

17.01.2022 So much anger SA at one individual. Feel a bit sick reading it... I own my own business, my husband (who was walked in July as a COVID cut) lost all his casual shifts this week, had another week delay in starting a new venture, our mortgage recommences January etc etc etc etc but I do think all the anger is hardcore. Anyone who has worked in hospitality knows well there is some of this cash in hand stuff going on, not cool, but to focus intense anger on a person I think mi...sses the point of what the lessons in all of this are for us. Work together, support each other, be prepared to accept that suddenly a world we thought we controlled is actually well... Not in our control. Do what we've gotta do when we've gotta do it, as a 'team'. Accept we're all human. ie Flawed and prone to stuff ups. 2020 has been a tough year, the toughest most of us have known, but it doesn't start and end here in my opinion. Every chance 2021 will be tough too. So these experiences are likely to be just part and parcel of our life going forward. COVID is not simply one individuals fault... So... Peace, love and mung beans babies.

16.01.2022 Do you believe that a successful business social feed is about large follower numbers? In reality, business social feeds in a COVID world have become more about empathy, authenticity and connection. A path that I have been following for over 10 years now in the space. As a passionate storyteller and Digital Coach, with broad experience working in, and running marketing activities for, artisan food, beverage and wellness businesses, plus over 10 years of this focused on tell...ing brand story via digital feeds, I have seen that social media can be a game-changer for business. But it’s not about numbers. It’s about stories. I am excited to have been asked to present at the City of Unley business breakfast on April 13th - talking all this and more! If you are interested in attending tickets can be purchased via https://e.mybookingmanager.com/attendee_register_input_B.as

15.01.2022 I have been Digital Coaching for 18 months now and it’s an area of my business I just love. Working 1:1 with people to help them find comfort in running their digital platforms has been purpose driven work for me, no doubt. Hand on heart, counselling styled comfort sessions that debunk ‘should do’s’ and create actions that are *actually* doable. This is not a social media tips space. A ‘how to hack the technology space’ And not that we don’t cover the hacks and how to’s as ...needed. It’s just simply not our primary focus, as once you have found your comfort in a narrative that feels aligned, the technology comes anyway. I promise you. Instead, this is a space to think clearly about who you are, what you are and who you do it for. It’s a space of comfort to be you. To find your authentic digital voice and talk clearly to *your* people. People get caught on the numbers again and again with social media. Truth is, in my experience (10 years of running digital feeds!) they are not key. What is key is having 10, 25, 50 real customers or clients who ‘hear’ you, engage with you, refer you. And for time immemorial, and for time to come, you won’t be doing that without acknowledging that technology is just the vehicle. Connection, human to human, is what counts. I am launching a Find Your Digital Voice Coaching Group in 2021. Just percolating the final details of it now... If it resonates would love you to join me on this! Watch this space. #feltstories #realsocial #nobullshit #adelaidesocialmedia #brandstoryteller

15.01.2022 Introducing our first panel guest for Live.Love.Learn on September 17th, Alice MacGillivray of Bright Threads Alice's background was working in restaurants and selling wine in Sydney, Beijing and Adelaide. But it was moving to the Barossa, where she now live’s with her husband and two wee people, when her boundless creative spirit, love of feeding people and long lunching days, coupled with a genuine search for good quality, but also fun, beautiful and colourful linen, led t...o the birth of Bright Threads. Alice has always been an entertainer and became well known amongst her friends for her feasts and their incredible, eclectic table settings. Mismatched cutlery, crockery, glasses and napery, anything would go and the experience never failed to amaze! Her vision with Bright Threads was slow fashion for the home, beautifully designed to last a lifetime of long lunches and boozy dinners, hanging with the people you love. The range is made of the highest quality linen she can source, printed and sewn by hand in Bali, with vivid and original patterns that are a testament to Alices' incredible creativity. As she says Bright Threads is about being brave with colour and pattern, creating '... a table as vibrant and bright as the conversations around it.’ COVID has had it’s own challenges too, with the accompanying international shipping issues landing immediately after she had taken her biggest orders to date, during her first major trade show at Life Instyle in Sydney in February. Problems she has been juggling since. Alice's insight into running a start up in its first few years, the incredible personality of her product and the genuine challenge of small biz with small people is going to be a wonderful addition to our panel on September 17th. We so look forward to her joining us! #heartfeltbiz #livelovelearnyourbusiness **Just 4 tickets left so if you would like to join us Good Hub on September 17th, please head along to http://bit.ly/LIVELOVELEARN2 and click through ticketing link on our event page. We'd love to have you in the room!**

15.01.2022 Over 10 years ago I was one of those marketing managers that had to make a choice. Social Media. Learn it or outsource it. I never worked for business big enough to do the latter, so in true grassroots, ‘wear all the hats’ small to medium biz fashion, learn it I did.... Facebook first then Instagram in 2012. Twitter? Well I have to say I’ve always struggled with that little bird. (Despite never doubting it’s importance for speaking to certain groups...). To be perfectly honest, I didn’t really love any of them. But I did love digging into the ethos of a business and truly hearing its beating heart. And often that heart was full of the stories of why and how. Engaging, real, funny, raw tales that truly spoke to you. Once I had got my head around that, in a social media world just oozing with sales, I found my comfort in crafting narrative for these platforms. And Instagram, with it’s pretty filters and image based rollout has always been the place of greatest comfort. So happy happy day Instagram. Boy you’ve changed things, not always for the better... but once I and the biz I work with, found our voice, you’ve been an amazingly powerful pathway to our people. And I am grateful. So big big thanks Warmest, Jess #feltstories #realsocial #socialmediaworld

13.01.2022 Do you get caught in the ‘should do’s’ of how to run your biz social media? We’re for debunking those at Felt! Over 4 years ago when we started running the Adelaide Hills Wine Region account, there was a growing trend in digital. A little thing called ‘influencers’... Heard of them!? ... And we ‘should have' used them to grow the account. It was the way it was being done. Have your product endorsed and sit back and watch the (often pretty in-authentic) show. Thing is, that wasn’t acknowledging that the Hills real followers weren’t going to come from this sector, or the people they talked to, and it wasn’t really how the region wanted to be represented. Our customers, the ones we wanted to talk to more of, were those who would come up to taste and dine then fill their boots with booze on the way back down. These people were pretty firmly in the 40- 65+ and at the time an audience influencers weren’t really speaking to. We did have ‘influencers’ to engage with though, the only ones that ever really mattered key wine media, Somms, Hospo’s and wine industry folk themselves... So we never went down that ‘should do’ path. And today, we believe the account speaks for itself. When you are feeling compelled to ‘should do’ in running your platforms - stop, take a breath and consider - what is your objective (doing what people tell you you ‘should’ do?!) AND is this going to speak to YOUR people? #findyourdigitalvoice #feltstories #realsocial #brandstoryteller

11.01.2022 Are you often stuck working in your business, not on it? Do you crave conversations about the real struggle and juggle of it? The surprising lows and happy dance highs? Want to join a conversation that is like a great big, ‘you’ve got this?, that aims to debunk the narrative that the only measure of success is a 7 figure turnover, huge social media following or hustling, hustling, hustling!? #worklifewellness... Amanda Sheedy and I created Live.Love.Learn to facilitate these conversations, because we were craving the very same in our own business. A less corporate business networking environment, where the conversation is real and at times raw. We are thrilled to welcome a panel of real business women to the table on September 17th, Alice MacGillivray of Bright Threads , Brooke Lampit of Lambrook Wines and Miriam Whitford of Whitford Thinking. All in different industries and stages of their business journey. All discussing how they Live. Love and Learn everyday, in their business lives. 10.01.2022 Those remarkable rocks So powerful. But the bushfire scars were everywhere. Bloody sad and confronting and also hopeful, with new growth at every turn. The rocks experienced the full force of the blaze too, with fire scar right up to their base.... The bushfire stories from affected regions have been pretty quickly eclipsed by COVID 19. But these regions, places like KI and the Adelaide Hills (who Felt works closely via Adelaide Hills Wine Region) and Yorke Peninsula, have had to deal with this too. Can you even imagine the year they’ve had...? It is almost unfathomable and yet here we are, in the midst of it. Visiting or buying the produce of these regions wherever we can, really is the best thing we can all do to help. And a visit to this magic island? Is something I simply cannot recommend enough... BUT... so busy helping others, you don’t apply this same guidance to your own biz? Hear ya folks. It’s tough finding the space to work ‘on’ your biz and not just ‘in’ it. And that’s where I come in. ... Empowering you to find your digital voice, tell your unique stories and action them consistently, comfortably, engagingly and authentically. 06.01.2022 Over a year ago Leadership Coach Amanda Sheedy and Brand Storyteller Jessamyn McLachlan connected over the need to spend time working on developing their businesses. They were both at that juncture - neither brand new nor super established - and craved the kind of conversations where people would honestly talk about where to go from here and where they had been. Live. Love. Learn was born. Fuelled by the desire to have this real conversation about what it is to to run your o...wn business and the need for opportunities as sole traders to create space to work ‘on’ rather than just ‘in’ it, LLL revolves around the concept of how we live in (or with), love (or don't love...!), and learn (endlessly and always) everyday in our business lives. It is intended to be an anti-hustle conversation, instead acknowledging that it’s ok to be ‘where you are at’ and creating space to candidly discuss the pain points, difficulties, happy dance joys and real positives of running your own heart*felt* biz. We have collected a panel of 3 wonderful biz women at various stages in their business lives, to facilitate this open, honest and probably at times raw space - particularly acknowledging the challenges of a COVID world. We’d love you to join us! Last tickets available via http://bit.ly/LIVELOVELEARN2 #heartfeltbiz #livelovelearnyourbusiness

06.01.2022 Coming across this quote around 2 years ago via the wonderful @ofkin was a bit like coming home... The ethos of Felt in one. Not that the other elements weren’t important and part of the business journey (muscle and brain can certainly also feature in the toolbox! ) but for Felt, right from the beginning, they were not the destination. Felt was firmly focused on the heart. Heart*felt* narrative and engagement. Intuitive understanding of the business and it's unique truth.... Honest actions and genuine intent... 5 years ago, in a social media world, you might be surprised to hear that this was unusual. Today it’s wonderful to see it becoming more the norm - it certainly seems to be one of the changes that COVID has fast tracked. Many times I questioned my path - as it wasn’t that of a fast growing business or an influencer styled social account. I wasn’t ‘well known’ in market. But each time I questioned, another event occurred to remind me that fast would not suit me or another absolutely wonderful client relationship arrived. Ways that told me that yes, you are absolutely on the right path. Hold the course. And here we are now. A time for business with heart. A time for raw and honest conversations. A time for *genuine*, wholehearted support of each other. A time to know we are in this together. If you are craving these kind of conversations in your business, come and join our 2nd Live.Love.Learn event on September 17th with Amanda Sheedy at Good Hub. We plan to have a lot of them with wholehearted biz operators just like you. This quote underpins the WHOLE concept. 04.01.2022 What is your measure of success? Mine is in flexibility and purpose, something I elaborated on in my post Friday, when I talked about the loss of Euan, for the first time in a public forum like this and as an act of acknowledgment and celebration of him (and others gone too soon like him. That’s his birthday cake in the pic! ). Live. Love. Learn, a business gathering I created with @amandasheedy_1 , is all about having these honest conversations, debunking the ‘must do’s...’ of business (and let’s face it personal too) life. 03.01.2022 Introducing Miriam Whitford, our next panel guest for Live.Love.Learn on September 17th. After a successful corporate career in Food, Retail, Wine, Professional services and Events with brands such as Peters Ice cream, BP, Hardys, Arras Sparkling, Nestle Diet Yogurt, Minter Ellison and Adelaide 500 - both nationally and globally - Miriam Whitford then established her own strategic planning consulting firm, Whitford Thinking. Today she works with SME’s on building a successful... and smart future. Like many businesses in late March and April her business went quiet and like many small businesses, she is facing many challenges as 2020 has progressed. However since June she has seen businesses in SA start reach out again as they start planning, preparing, and challenging the way they think, strategise and present themselves in a COVID world. Given this, Miriam feels confident about the SA small business future and we are thrilled to have her in the room to hear more of her thoughts on where to from here, some of the highlights of her career and how she is facing the challenge of running her own small biz in 2020. https://whitfordthinking.com.au/ #livelovelearnyourbusiness #heartfeltbiz We'd love you to join us! 02.01.2022 There are *loads* of ‘should do’s’ when creating brand content for socials, websites and more! And it’s so easy to get caught up in them all. Trust me, content creation is my area, I’ve been doing this a long time and still get caught on my own ‘should do’s’ at times #human But there is incredible connection (a-ha moments), comfort and authenticity in debunking that when we help craft brand story for our folk. We can certainly create perfectly curated videos that cover the d...ry marketing spin, or we can flip that, take elements of your hand-on -heart business story and guide you to find comfort in telling that instead. Real and so much more engaging. And there is no question you really hear Bright Threads in this lovely Biz Shoot with Meg Hansen Photography - featuring part of her ‘why’ story and those incredibly smashing linens she is so talented at creating. We hope you enjoy and feel just a little inspired to set your table beautifully too!
