22.01.2022 On the program this week. Emergency evacuation drills. Every three months we practice evacuation drills with children so that in the event of an emergency everyone is prepared and knows what to do. Our primary meeting point is St Paul’s Primary School, so today we evacuated preschool and walked all the way up the hill to safety. Do you practice emergency evacuations at your house? Does your child know where to meet you in an emergency? Do they know not to hide from you or the emergency services? These are some questions to think about and talk about at home.

06.01.2022 Did you know our brains are solar powered? Exposure to sunlight is thought to increase the brain’s release of a hormone called serotonin. This is associated with boosting mood and helping a person feel calm and focused. This is why playing outside in the sunshine practicing sun safety is so important for children in helping them be calm, focused and happy.... Here’s some photos of the Butterfly children enjoying the sunshine this week and boosting their serotonin!

06.01.2022 This week is National Child Protection Week. This year National Child Protection Week will celebrate its 30th year with the theme "Putting children first". National Association for Prevention of Child abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) is encouraging all of us to look at how wecan prioritise children in their lives and communities. Putting children first means prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children. To grow up well children need to feel safe and loved, have a chance to play and explore, have a say in decisions that affect them, and access to essential things like food, shelter and healthcare.

04.01.2022 This week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week. The theme for NAIDOC Week is Always Was, Always Will Be. We come together during NAIDOC Week to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
