Jasmine was a graduate of our Super Yacht Welding program.... Congratulations Jasmine! The Gala Award night is 12 November and we wish Jasmine well.

01.01.2022 East Coast Apprenticeships is delighted to announce that 2nd Stage apprentice, Jasmine Willoughby working with Host Employer Aus Ships at Murarrie, has won the AIMEX 2020 Apprentice of the Year Award. It is great news that Jasmine, a female graduate from the Super Yacht Welding Program was recognised for her efforts while working on Aus Ships’ contract to replace the CityCats for Brisbane City Council. The following is an extract about the Award: AIMEX has announced th...e inaugural ‘Apprentice of the Year’ Award in order to highlight the true strength of the Australian marine industry, our skilled tradespersons. This thrilling new category recognises and honours apprentices from the Australian marine industry for their outstanding skills, performance, dedication and commitment . Jasmine will receive a trip to Amsterdam to attend the 2021 METSTRADE Show as part of the AIMEX delegation which will provide her with an experience of a lifetime and will further secure her future in the Australian marine industry. Jasmine was a graduate of East Coast Apprenticeships’ Launch into Work Project aimed at growing the skills base for the Super Yacht sector in marine industry clustered around Murarrie and Coomera. The outstanding course delivered by TAFE Queensland SkillsTech, was a combination of prevocational training with competencies from MEM Cert II package and 3 weeks intensive welding training to AS/NZS 1665:2004 Standard (welding of aluminium structures). It also included 2 weeks of work experience. The target participants were females taking on roles either as apprentices or as aluminium welders in yacht manufacturing. The design of this project responded to what employers were asking for; apprentices who presented proficient in aluminium MIG welding applicable to boat building and repairs. Congratulations to Jasmine.
