25.01.2022 Cold morning here at the farm with the first frost of the year. Aquaponics tank sitting at 7C with the trout recirc tanks at 9C. Meanwhile the Perch are still happy with their tanks at 20 and 18.5C

25.01.2022 Neville from Donnybrook just sent in this photo of some Trout he caught in his dam recently. We stocked his dam over the last couple of years and it looks like this catch comprised of a fish from each of the last two years stockings.

24.01.2022 A bit fresh this morning, dont usually see water temps like this until winter. The Aquaponics tank just edges out the trout tanks by 0.1 degree.

22.01.2022 Barry from Cundinup stocking his dam with 200 Perch yearlings today. Barry opted to stock the yearlings of 160 - 200mm and 200 - 250mm sizes which is a smart move as losses from birds would be minimal and he also only has to wait a year and hes got edible sized fish to catch.

As you can see at an average size of 260mm they are to big for the Little Pied Cormorants to eat so good survival rates after stocking are pretty much guaranteed.

16.01.2022 Just took some of my ex brood stock Rainbow Trout down to a dam in Donnybrook where they will live out the rest of their lives. Average size was over 4lb with this girl going 6lb.

With regional boundaries set to close Tues night I suggest anyone who wants to come and get Trout for the 2020 season to make arrangements to come and pick them up as soon as you can. I have checked the long term weather forecast and there are no days of 30C or more forecast for Perth right up til April 20th so I think that that is the end of the hot weather.

Have already commenced selling trout to Margaret River area and locally and weather permitting hope to start deliveries to Perth in the next week or two. We will also be doing a carpark fish sales day at Cheidys Aquaponics in Jandakot Sat 30th April for those that prefer to pick up their fish rather than have them delivered. 05.01.2022 I get to stock fish in some beautiful dams but this one is one of my favorites. Located in Margaret River area its got beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and weed beds that go on forever. Today it got its yearly stocking of 300 Silver Perch yearlings which will now be swimming around with plenty of mates up to 5kg+.

04.01.2022 Another tough day in the office stocking farm dams down Margaret River region with Silver Perch. Some people like to stock with fingerlings as they are cheaper whilst others who want to be able to start fishing straight away prefer to stock larger fish. The vineyard dam shown below received 200 fingerlings whilst the other dam received large fish ranging from 700gms to 2.3kg. Some happy fishing times ahead.

03.01.2022 It pays to grade fish. These two came from the same tank of fingerlings which should be all around the size on the bottom one. The one at the top was 270mm and has been having a great time feasting on his mates by the look of it.

01.01.2022 Demand for Silver Perch is still strong even in these tough times. We have pretty much been cleaned out of all of this seasons fry by commercial growers and today Michael from Midland Fresh Seafoods made the trip down to pick up plate sized fish for his Chinese restaurant customers. Still have fingerlings and yearling Perch available though they too are moving out the door pretty quick atm.
