25.01.2022 Let's lighten our day by watching a 3 year old perform play-dough hip replacement surgery.

25.01.2022 If we stopped chatting long enough, we’d see this a lot more at FSO!

21.01.2022 Thanks to my friends at Sound Osteopathy for this great informative post on how to wear a mask correctly. We have had the same measures in place at Ferguson St Osteo for a couple of weeks now, so please read for more detail on correct use of masks. We have stock on hand for anyone who doesn’t have their own when arriving for an appointment, but with the forthcoming mandate on masks for leaving home, we imagine you will soon all have one ready to go. Stay safe x

20.01.2022 Want to support those in forced public housing lockdown? The Asylum Seeker Refugee Centre is a good place to start - they will be supplying thousands of meals for those in need. Check their Facebook page and website for donation links

17.01.2022 One year trading from 161 Ferguson! Finally, some photos to share of our happy work space. Can't wait to reopen fully again in a few weeks. Hope everyone is staying well x

16.01.2022 Today marks 5 years that this woman has worked for Ferguson St Osteo! #notjustareceptionist but also friend, debrief buddy and baby settler when needed (see image). Thanks Jade for all your support through the ups and downs of business life. Couldn’t have done it without you and love love love having you as a central part of teamFSO.

15.01.2022 I completely forgot that pole vaulting it even a thing. How incredible!!

14.01.2022 We love Laura and Enchanted Years for gifts for the lil’ ones! Anyone who has received a newborn gift from Julie should know that it would be from here and our very own Jade works here when she’s not at FSO! Great post about supporting the hard working small businesses in Williamstown - especially retail stores and cafes! Enchanted Years, Embrace, Novel Kitchen and Parade Deli are some of our fav’s!

11.01.2022 Today is an historic day, where Australians are saying enough is enough and the FSO team fully support the Women’s Marches 4 Justice happening across our country. Some of you might wonder why people protest, and if it achieves anything; yet history proves that it does! Public pressure from wide scale passionate protests can and will continue to shape the political agenda. Today we are demanding: 1. Full independent investigations into all cases of gendered violence and timely... referrals to appropriate authorities. Full public accountability for findings. 2. Fully implementation of the 55 recommendations in the Australian Human Rights Commission’s Respect@Work report of the National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces 2020. 3. Lifting public funding for gendered violence prevention to world’s best practice. 4. The enactment of a federal Gender Equality Act to promote gender equality. It should include a gender equity audit of Parliamentary practices. Many strong women and allys will be marching and speaking at the marches today. If you, like some of us, are unable to attend, you can also show your support by signing the petition and donating online via the link below. For those who are attending, details on all events including speaker line ups are available here as well. To survivors of sexual assault or other gendered violence, and to those struggling in support of family or friends we send you our love and strength today. To be present with your own trauma whilst rising up to effect change takes immense courage, and we must not forget this.

10.01.2022 We have decided for the health and wellbeing of our whole community we will be closing our business for the time being. Times are moving almost too fast to keep up with and although we knew that we wouldn't be open much longer, this was still a difficult decision to make. We have been able to see some patients this week who were in high need of care, and have a few more over the next day and a half but we are no longer accepting new bookings. If you have an appointment this... week and have not heard from us, then your appointment is secure. If you have an appointment anytime from next week onwards - please be patient we will call you. We are prioritising those we need to cancel this week. If you think you are in urgent need of care we may be able to give you some advice so please call us. Our phones and email will remain active during the coming weeks/months and we will do online consults where suitable. This has been tough because love this practice, all of our patients and the community around us, and in addition to helping you, this place puts food on our tables. But eradicating this virus has to be our shared goal. Thanks for your support everyone and remember to limit the extreme slouching!! See you (hopefully lining up for an appointment) out the other side Julie @ FSO xx

08.01.2022 Hello FSO community, Thanks for your patience with us this week. Like many industries in Victoria, this has been a rollercoaster week for the Allied Health community, with clarity around stage 4 restrictions only coming in for us this afternoon. Ferguson St Osteo will remain open, but in a limited capacity whereby only the most urgent cases are able to seek treatment. ... ? Face to face osteopathic consultations (and all allied health for that matter) can only take place if serious deterioration would occur without treatment. Serious meaning an escalation of symptoms that would see you going to the hospital or to a specialist. This isn’t just lip service. We will be adhering to these rules as they stand, using our clinical judgement to assess if you meet this criteria. We know this is very hard news to take, but as primary health care providers we must uphold the directives that are in place to keep us all safe. So although this might be upsetting for you, please try to understand where we are coming from and work with us to find another solution for you via telehealth or other recommendation. , ’ - ? I implore you to reach out to us if you are in pain or discomfort and give it a chance. At this stage there is no other option for manual therapy for 6 weeks, and you will be surprised how much we can help you through advice, education and showing you things to try at home. ? Online bookings will remain open for telehealth only. Face to face bookings need to go through a triage process and you can book this ‘triage’ session online as well, for we will have a phone consult first. And you can of course contact us via the usual means of telephone, email or text. , ’ . On a side, but very important note the government has extended the number of Medicare rebatable mental health care visits by 10. For anyone struggling at the moment who isn’t currently engaging in some form of mental health care, we strongly encourage you to do so, and hope this government assistance helps. We know this is really limiting, but we have bigger fish to fry in kicking COVID-19s butt, and for those of you who are coping the brunt of this shutdown, we thank you as we know you didn’t choose this. Finally, we are already preparing to do extended hours in the first few weeks we reopen, so fear not, we will be there for you, if later rather than sooner! In the meantime, stay as mobile as possible. And as above stay sane!! Love from the FSO team Julie, Jackie, Ellen and Jade xx

08.01.2022 To this day there is limited understanding of colic and of the treatments that can help sooth an otherwise healthy yet distressed baby. In the hopes of furthering the knowledge in this field, Ferguson St Osteo are playing a small role in a greater study, that runs across three countries, looking at outcomes of osteopathic treatment on infants with colic. Check out this weeks Star Weekly article about the trial and get in touch with us if you have any questions or have an infant that fits the eligibility criteria (>3 hours crying, >3 days/week, 1-10weeks old). **Note that osteopathic treatment of infants is gentle and involves no manipulation. This study has multiple-univiersity ethics approval and only practitioners with extensive training and experience are involved.

07.01.2022 Must see PPE mask beauty tutorial

07.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what the baby looks like in the uterus? This video is one of the best examples we’ve ever seen - watch until the end to see the baby in its caul, unaware of its changed surroundings.

06.01.2022 Happy covid vaccine roll out day! Our sleeves are up and ready to go, albeit prematurely as there are people more urgently in need than osteos. For anyone still hesitant, this is a great local resource on the vaccine: https://mvec.mcri.edu.au//covid-19-vaccines-frequently-as/

04.01.2022 We had a beautiful family day to celebrate each other. Truly grateful for the friendships and support networks we have created in our team. (Apologies to the two men of the day for not making any photos!)

04.01.2022 Social distancing is not a nice experience but a nice thing to do. Here’s a great video explaining what a virus is, the way it impacts the body and how the measures we’re taking will have an impact.

03.01.2022 Julie’s shameless attempt at selfie’s with everyone at the FSO work party. Still missed a few! Sorry peeps! Happy summer festivities to everyone and lots of love to those who can’t be with their families this Christmas xxx

03.01.2022 We are open! :DWe are open! :D
