23.01.2022 I recently walked to the base of Crystal Shower Falls, just minutes from Fernbrook Lodge. So beautiful.

22.01.2022 People asked to see our little chicks. Well here they are all grow'd up - our rooster has been practicing his crow and almost has it right. I don't think it's right that poultry bred as meat birds should be such beautiful birds!

21.01.2022 The long summer holiday season was full of friends and guests from far and near. Christmas guests came from China and Nepal. Then the Johnston tribe descended and so did the temperatures. We huddled around fires with heavy coats on like we did in June! The inaugural Johnno Golf Tournament over two days was won convincingly by Adrian. Then January ushered in some of the hottest days since Fernbrook Lodge opened. This weekend we welcome guests for the Stories and Songs of the People event in Bellingen - a time for indigenous people to share culture with us all. Never a dull moment here on the mountain.

16.01.2022 Guests, family and friends who have been to Fernbrook Lodge during the past 12 months will be interested to know that Johnnie leaves in a few days to travel back home to South Dakota. It has been a remarkably interesting and at times challenging experience sharing Johnnie's perspective on life this year. As a First Nation American he has brought us a view on life here in Australia vastly different from the orthodox and mainstream. I would like to express my thanks to Johnnie for the many interesting conversations around the table with so many guests as well as the gift of his music/singing. And Craig now has to find another golfing mate. All the very best, Johnnie, for your journey home.

12.01.2022 It's spring time again in Dorrigo. Here is a photo taken by a guest recently of the early morning mist. We are gradually developing the paddock with a view for our visitors. The shed now has a tank attached. Two minutes after Craig finished fixing the pipes to the tank it began raining! Sometimes things go well. And the six camping spots that we have had leveled are greening up with grass. Should be lovely by Christmas. In the meantime we had a houseful of guests for the Bluegrass Festival including one of the musicians. Lots of fun.

01.01.2022 Ive just spent a wonderful morning at the rainforest centre in Dorrigo learning about its history, geology, ecological systems, birds and animals. This escarpment has always been beautiful to me. Now it is so much more precious!
