24.01.2022 Where does our litter go once it washes down the drain? Our oceans of course. Please note that some people may find some parts of this disturbing. ... http://youtu.be/78BQKPssoXM

23.01.2022 Anybody know which street the lightening strike was in last night?

20.01.2022 Took my first look at the changes to the Lanita Railway Trail. I know for some people the Tarmac will be easier to walk/cycle on but personally I feel quite sad that the relaxing escape from the concrete jungle is gone forever. Also, what's with the railing? Such an overkill but I still struggle to see justification in the $3M cost.

16.01.2022 What a great idea. what washes down our storm drains ends up in our creeks and eventually our oceans.

16.01.2022 Just wanted to say I'm really happy with the progress this page has had so far. Please make sure you "like" the page and tell your neighbours about it as well.

14.01.2022 I rode down to Samford via the ugly new Lanita trail this morning. On the way back we chose to ride through the paddock trail at the eastern end of Petersen Rd only to discover it has also been turned into a highway. So sad to see these natural trails turned into an extension of the concrete jungle.

12.01.2022 I went for a walk this morning with a pocket full of supermarket bags. I could have filled another if I had a fourth. 50% had Golden Arches branding and the rest for "energy" drinks and soft drink cans and bottles. Was about ten cigarette packs too. Seems these people have as little respect for their own bodies as they do for the environment and local community.

12.01.2022 It's been a while, have been a bit busy. Does anybody know where all the shattered glass on Lanita came from a few weeks back?

09.01.2022 Sad to see the new development site stripped bare, didn't think that would be the case.

08.01.2022 Keep an eye on this page for a name change to reflect a new direction. We'll still centre around Keeping 'The Grove' tidy with a wider scope than just Lanita Rd, but aim to also focus on the beauty of this wonderful part of Brisbane and the activities, restaurant reviews, etc etc. Please feel welcome to start conversations, raise awareness of local issues, promote community events on the page.

07.01.2022 One of the reasons it's a bad idea to throw rubbish on the side of the road. Storm water flows directly to the creek, so ultimately if it's left on the road it will end up in our creek. From there it will eventually find it's way into the river and finally the ocean via Moreton Bay. Do the right thing people.

05.01.2022 This is very exciting for Ferny Grove. _______________________________________ The first images of the Ferny Grove railway station transit-oriented development have been released.... http://www.couriermail.com.au//b355a6fd6ba9f09c441c169d08d They come hot on the heels of news that rail users in the northwest will get more parking and more frequent services as a result of the 2017-18 state Budget. It contains $1.2 million (out of the $7 million total cost) to provide more parking at Ferny Grove railway station when a residential/commercial complex is built there. A full-line supermarket will be part of the commercial and residential transit oriented development (TOD) planned for Ferny Grove railway station. Ferny Grove State Labor MP Mark Furner said the money was the first instalment in a transformation for Ferny Grove, with 253 more parking spaces (in addition to the present 900), new jobs, and a vibrant transport-oriented retail, commercial and residential development (TOD). It looks pretty impressive, Mr Furner said. People (Ive spoken to) are so impressed something like this is going to be built in their backyard and cant wait for it to start happening. Mr Furner said the TOD plan would be open for public consultation to get the best outcome for the community, and make better use of government-owned land. A development application would be lodged after negotiations with the Ferny Grove Tavern over parking spaces leased from Queensland Rail were completed. The privately-funded TOD will include an eight-screen cinema complex, supermarket and 144 residential units. Mr Furner said rail commuters would also benefit from the $5.41 billion inner city Cross River Rail project. The State Budget allocates an extra $2 billion to kickstart the scheme. Mr Furner said the project, once it was operational, would deliver a train right to the front door of the Ferny Grove TOD on average every six minutes during peak periods.
