18.01.2022 Do SCUBA DIVING, SHARKS, PREGNANCY and CASK WINE go together? I found out I was pregnant while on a month-long shark-spotting scuba diving trip off South Australia. Yes, really. The problem was, it was often boring and so - apart from decompression dives at deep levels - we drank a lot of alcohol. One night, I drank a fair whack of the stuff...starting off with bottled wine but switching to cask when we ran out. It wasn't attractive. The next morning I was th...rowing up over the side, but this confused me. I didn't normally suffer hangovers. But HANG on, when was my last period? Thankfully, I gave birth to a healthy if underweight baby, but the experience was very frightening and I had one student nurse tell me to "be prepared for Foetal Alcohol Syndrome." So, it's with some relief that I read this article....without at all condoning other do what I did....but often we just don't know we are pregnant!! See more
