21.01.2022 Waiting... It seems this trying to conceive game revolves heavily around waiting. Waiting to ovulate... Waiting to test Waiting for your period to arrive/not arrive Evan and I have been waiting to ovulate for awhile now. A wait longer then most, thanks to PCOS. Ive never (like ever) had a proper cycle. I would be surprised with a period maybe twice a year. Which when I was young and careless, was quite handy. But when Evan and I want to create a baby... it creates a few problems! Weve been trying letrozole with out Fertility Specialist to induce ovulation. It youve been keeping up to date with our story, it wasnt looking great, and it was suggest maybe we should just jump straight to IVF. But we decided to go with the flow, exhaust the options first... and do some waiting!! And our waiting has paid off! I had a blood test this morning (Progesterone), and received a call this afternoom that confirmed I have ovulated with the help of Letrozole. We had a feeling this would be todays result. We got a nice strong positive Fertility2Family ovulation test not long ago. 17.01.2022 Letrozole update I increase my Letrozole dose from 2.5mg to 5mg for 5days in hope we might see one of my follicles growing nice and big ready to ovulate. I didnt notice any symptoms on the increased Letrozole dose, however I did begin spotting on the 5th day of taking the higher dose.... I had my scan on Friday to check out my follicles and unfortunately the gaggle of follicles hanging out on my ovaries have been pretty lazy, not growing in size at all . (If anyone knows the correct term or has a better suggested term for a group of follicles, please let me know ) I could tell during the scan, and from telling my fertility specialist about my spotting, things werent looking good for me and Letrozole . We had a chat and he thinks it is unlikely I will see a response from Letrozole, and due to my large amount of follicles on my ovaries (some of the most impressive ovaries he has seen in quite some time I was told ) if we try other options to stimulate my ovaries, I would likely suffer from Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Due to all this, my fertility specialist has given us three options on where to go from here; 1 Re-scan on Friday in one last-ditch effort to see if my follicles will grow from the Letrozole. 2 Increase my Letrozole dose to the maximum of 7.5mg/day for 7days, and see if I have any response. 3 Move straight to IVF, stimulate my follicles, collect my eggs, and then give me medications to imitate natural hormones to prepare my uterus for an embryo, which had earlier been prepared by my fertility specialist and his team with the help of my egg, and my husbands sperm. At this stage, we have chosen option 1; to rescan on Friday... lets hope one of my follicles get in on the plan and start to grow. 16.01.2022 SELF-CARE We all need a little self-care. It is something we often forget about, or place low on the priority list and we often feel guilty taking the time to care for ourselves.... How silly is that!? On Friday I took a selfcare day. There was so much more I should have been doing... but I didnt. I chose ME and I did something I have never done... It was SO good. I normally struggle to mentally relax, even during a massage. But the one hour weightlessly floating in the Epsom-salt water was INCREDIBLE, and flew by. It really did feel like I was floating. I could barely feel the body temperature water against my skin. And the super-saturated Epsom-salt water held me effortly floating. I will say it again... Previously I have always got a positive pregnancy tests result at 8 days past ovulation using the Fertility2Family Test. So I had a fair idea this week that it was unlikely we had fallen pregnant successfully. So back we go for another month of trying!... Today I start on 7.5mg of Letrozole for 7days.
