Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day aims to change that, so parents have the opportu...nity to find the support they need. If you are struggling or feel that you need support, our highly skilled counsellors at Fertility First are here for you. 20.01.2022 Happy Birthday Gregor Mendel July 20th 1822 The Father of Genetics who discovered the fundamental laws of inheritance from 1856-1863. Mendel was the first person to lay the mathematical foundation of the science of genetics and he did it using pea plants

20.01.2022 Do Men have a biological clock? Unfortunately, the answer is yes. Younger men have a better chance of fathering a child than those older than 40 and this simply comes down to the quality of the sperm. Although men continue to make new sperm every day, the genetic integrity of the sperm begin to decline after the age of 40. Elevated levels of DNA fragmentation in sperm have been linked to early pregnancy loss, miscarriage, poor embryo development and IVF outcomes, and abnorm...alities in the offspring including an increased vulnerability to childhood cancer. Fertility First has recognised the importance of sperm health and genetic integrity when it comes to fertility and healthy pregnancies, and has been testing for sperm DNA damage in patients since 2006. We also encourage our male patients to make healthier lifestyle choices such as quitting smoking, dietary changes and even underwear choices. #fertility #ivftreatment #infertility #science #fertilityfirstsuccess #fertilityfirst #donoreggs #donoreggivf #donoreggjourney #ivfjourney #ivfsuccess #ivfsupport #ivfsydney #donorsperm #reproductivehealth #iui #icsi #femalefertility #femaleinfertility #malefertility #maleinfertility #icsipregnancy #fertilitytreatment #fertilityjourney #reproductivescience #reproductivehealth #fitforfertility #science #embryology #scientists

13.01.2022 In the late 1940s Dr Piero Donini, an Italian scientist working in the pharmaceutical industry was the first person to extract and purify follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), the two hormones which stimulate ovulation. Dr Donini discovered that the highest levels of FSH and LH could be found in the urine of post-menopausal women, and in order to develop enough of the drugs for a clinical trial, scientists from Geneva managed to recruit over 10 nuns who were willing to volunteer by supplying the laboratory with urine. It took over 10 nuns 10 days to produce enough urine for one single treatment. Since then, Dr Doninis research into hormonal fertility treatment has led to the development of fertility drugs such as Gonal-F and millions of babies worldwide.

12.01.2022 Fertility First has been very fortunate to have a consistent supply of donor sperm immediately available for the past 15 years so we are very experienced in this area. On average Fertility First has 40 to 50 different donors available at any one time. For more information on donor sperm, contact our clinic on 02 9586 3311

12.01.2022 Ask Fertility First: Can I fall pregnant after 40? Unfortunately, we know that your fertility will begin to decline as you get older and this has a lot to do with the quality of the eggs you are producing. This doesn’t mean that we can’t get pregnant after a specific age, it does mean, however that we can be more aware of the effects ageing has on our eggs and work to undo some of these. Diets rich in antioxidants and antioxidants through supplementation can help to support t...he ageing process and assist in improving egg quality. #fertility #ivftreatment #infertility #science #fertilityfirstsuccess #fertilityfirst #donoreggs #donoreggivf #donoreggjourney #ivfjourney #ivfsuccess #ivfsupport #ivfsydney #donorsperm #reproductivehealth #iui #icsi #femalefertility #femaleinfertility #malefertility #maleinfertility #icsipregnancy #fertilitytreatment #fertilityjourney #reproductivescience #reproductivehealth #fitforfertility #science #embryology #scientists
