23.01.2022 You may be aware that all elective surgeries, other than category 1 and urgent category 2 cases have been suspended. This has affected Fertility Tasmania’s ability to perform egg collection (OPU) procedures. Even though were are unable to commence any new IVF (stimulated) cycles, Fertility Tasmania is still able to provide the following services: Ultrasound scans, Ovulation Induction, Artificial Insemination Cycles and Frozen Embryo transfers. ... We acknowledge that some patients will consider it essential to have access to these services and we continue to be dedicated to support our patients in their dream for a family, where we are able to do so safely. What precautions is Fertility Tasmania taking in light of COVID-19? Fertility Tasmania is adhering to best practice to minimise the risk for all patients. Our quality and safety initiatives are paramount to ensure the health and wellbeing of our patients and staff. Some of these initiatives include: - Encouraging telehealth consultations where possible. - Temperature checking upon arrival - Amending waiting room areas and time intervals between appointments to ensure social distance. - Where possible encouraging patients to stay in their car until they can be seen. - Increased frequency of cleaning for all areas, in particular high risk areas such as door handles and EFTPOS machines. - Reduced clinic opening hours and reduced personnel onsite We are in a unique position, due to the size of our clinic and that most of our staff can work remotely, that we have been able to reduce the amount of staff required in the clinic. What other support are we providing to our patients at this time? Phone or video meetings with our Fertility Specialists and Fertility Nurses are available to answer fertility questions. Please call or email Fertility Tasmania to arrange a time. A free webinar series for patients, delivered by Fertility Specialists and other experts, soon to be made available. Sessions will cover preparing for pregnancy, fertility and treatment options and fertility preservation. Please refer to our website for further information and updates www.fertilitytasmania.com.au Counselling is available to provide psychological support to patients before, during and after treatment. If you would like to access support counselling, please contact Fertility Tasmania on (03) 6169 1111 or [email protected] The Fertility Society of Australia have developed Frequently Asked Questions https://www.fertilitysociety.com.au//fsa-st/covid-19-faqs/ We will continue to do everything we can, to provide you with advice, support and treatment. #staysafe #stayathome

23.01.2022 Reassuring news IVF parents and offspring. A new study out today/this week has added to the evidence that people born via IVF are as healthy as their naturally ...conceived peers. According to the new research, any effect that assisted reproduction technology has on babies’ genes is largely corrected by adulthood. Our own Professor Rob McLachlan was involved in the research, led by the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Want to learn more? 17.01.2022 Call Fertility Tasmania to secure your spot. Places are limited #lovewomenshealth

16.01.2022 At FERTILITY TASMANIA we are currently undergoing some changes within our practice in line with the current COVID19 environment . This is a reminder that we will be continuing to notifying patients to alter appointments to minimise how many patients and staff are in the practice at any given time. Please attend your appointment alone. If you have a support person or family member who will be with you, please ask them to wait in the car or at an alternate location. The healt...h and well being of all patients attending as well as our staff is paramount at this time. If your consult does not require an examination, then a phone call or a multimedia consult will be set up. Please contact reception to confirm this arrangement. Many antenatal and gynaecological consultations however can not be safely conducted over the phone. We have made onsite changes to allow these to occur face to face whilst keeping safe as possible. You will be required to have a temperature check prior to proceeding to the consultation and we request that you practice effective hand washing and social distancing in line with current guidelines. If you have been overseas or flown in from interstate in the last fourteen days you are NOT to attend the practice at all. Please contact the clinic on (03)61691111 or at [email protected]. We will update you on any further changes on our Website or Facebook. Thank you for your cooperation.

14.01.2022 The Government made an announcement at 12.19pm today to suspend all non-urgent elective surgery. We are currently working through what this means for our patients and will update you as soon as possible

14.01.2022 Exciting Announcement IVF resumes Today the Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, confirmed that the suspension on elective surgery and importantly, IVF will be removed following the ANZAC Day weekend. This has come about as a result of the low incidence of COVID-19 in Australia and the lower than expected demand on our hospitals. We are delighted by this news and thrilled that our patients can now resume, or commence their fertility treatment. The Fertility Tasmania team are r...eady and waiting to help you move forward. If you want to start treatment and have not yet seen a fertility specialist, call 03 61691111 to make a telehealth appointment. If you are continuing treatment, call your fertility nurse to determine what this means for you. Please be assured that a range of additional initiatives have been implemented to minimise the risk of transmitting COVID-19 between our patients, our team and the broader community. We know it has been an incredibly upsetting and anxious time for many of you. We want to thank all of our patients for your ongoing understanding and patience during the last few weeks. We so look forward to seeing you all again!! See more
