Check out these amazing students from Playford International College and Craigmore High School preforming their 'Always Was, Always Will be' creation for NAIDOC Week 2020. In celebration of NAIDOC Week 2020, we’d love to share these special sculptures in our collection from the Utopia Region (NT) by Anmatyerr artist Lucky Knwarreye and Wally Pwerle. Approximately 240km north east of Alice Springs, the Utopia Region is highly acclaimed for the extraordinary talent of its artists. Anmatyerr and Alywarr men and women have continued their long-practised carving skills, which can be seen in these beautiful birds. A signature of... the Utopia artists is decorating works with women’s and men’s ceremonial body paint designs and traditional iconography, as well as often covering their animal sculptures with colourful plumage and coats.
