15.01.2022 More local businesses supporting Open Minds Candelo Books shop did start its life in Candelo at the Candelo Markets in fact, 25 years ago originally a stall run by John Horton, It moved to Church Street in Bega while Marianna Yi was at high school, and she spent much time there after school Marianna and Myoung were in Brisbane at the time they heard the bookstore was on the market and used it as a way to move back to the Bega Valley ... Running a Business is tough enough, but this couple find time to also home school their kids, work in the Bega Valley Shire Library, sit on arts boards, work with the One Book One Community group, play in a band and love 3 chickens We love this community. We see and meet loads of people, and Bega people notice. There’s a certain comfort that so many know and notice your kids, ask how they are. The lovely Myoung and Marianna will be running a book stall at The Festival of Open Minds on Saturday 14th and will have books by the fabulous, wonderful big hearts and minds that are: Tim Costello and Christie Buckingham, and yes they will be signing for you! Thanks Myoung and Marianna see you on Saturday! Candelo Books Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre About Regional For tickets go to: https://festivalofopenminds.com.au

11.01.2022 Feed Your Mind and Support Your Community This Friday night while you are out and about soaking up the #parklightbega extravaganza, some of our Bega restaurants and cafés will be staying open and creating something special for us all... And then on Saturday they’ll be there at the ready with a delicious lunch, a perfect coffee, and a big smile...... It’s hard work anyway, so thank you Phil and Mel from Issi & Co for going those extra yards! Phil and Mel Indovino have been running Issi for 4 years, before Issi, they ran a Tathra fish and chip shop for 3 1/2 years They created Issi from a burger shop that closed down right in the heart of Bega Issi & Co Originally from Melbourne, the couple wanted to move away from the city and had been coming to the Sapphire Coast for years, camping and fishing, so the Bega Valley it was! They wanted a quieter life and now live in Bega town with their daughter (She is Issi, we are the Co) But wait, a quieter life? With a busy restaurant/café? It sounds like hard work to me, right? So let’s give them some love during the @festivalofopenminds Issi & Co will be open on FRIDAY NIGHT 13th September, until people stop coming in to order. Isis & Co will be open all day SATURDAY 14th and you can call them from The Festival of Open Minds to order lunch, coffee, book a table etc... Thanks guys, that’s passion and dedication! As an added incentive, Sapphire Coast Regional Science Hub and Sustainability Education Network and Inspiring Australia - National Networks are offering a $500 prize to one of our student guests.
