16.01.2022 There are many reasons why I am running for council but today I would like to talk about one of them in particular. A Regional Festival... Others may call it a... signature event, regardless of the title our region is really missing out on economic and regional benefits that a festival would bring. I know many of you would remember the Spud Festival or have heard stories about it. Or even if you are relatively new to the region you would know of other areas that hold such events. If elected to council I want to work together with a collective of community focused groups towards such an event. 5 years ago a few local business owners (including myself) and eager residents got together to form the Lockyer Community Development Group and we researched this very topic and how to get it going. There is actually a group here on facebook with many locals interested in what I typically refer to as "The Vege Fest". Now, like I said, let's not get stuck on things like the name that is irrelevant at this stage. Let's see if we can get enough collaboration and momentum to get it moving. Let's work together and make things happen.
