21.01.2022 This Weeks #MahonySmile is Bailey This young man presented to the practice with a deep overbite and was advised, by another doctor that the problem was due to the upper teeth. The previous treatment plan, offered by another clinician, was to pull the upper teeth back. Dr Mahony immediately realized that the lower jaw wasn’t in the right position and he treated this young man without any upper teeth extractions, but rather by bringing the lower jaw forward using a MARA applia...nce. Both Bailey and his mother are extremely happy that A; they didn’t have to take teeth out, and B; Her son's profile has improved dramatically. 19.01.2022 Todays #MahonySmile is Arlet This young lady presented to Dr Mahony with a bad overbite and crowding of the upper teeth. She also has small second teeth (lateral incisors). The team at FFO, in conjunction with her general dentist, were able to improve the smile and then utilise composite bonding to help the small lateral incisors blend in with the wonderful new smile. 13.01.2022 Today’s #Mahonysmile is Katerina This young lady was told that her only treatment option would involve jaw surgery, when she was older, or the extraction of upper teeth and subsequent retraction of the incisors. When Dr Mahony graduated 32 years ago he would never treat children unless they had all their adult teeth. Unfortunately, this meant a lot of unnecessary extractions. 07.01.2022 Today’s #Mahonysmile is Rachel This young lady had a Class III jaw pattern i.e. a severe underbite. The traditional approach would be to wait until she was older and then perform orthognathic surgery. We at Full Face Orthodontics, however, believe in early interceptive treatment for this type of bite.
