25.01.2022 With the school term kicking off we would like to introduce the new and IMPROVED Pathways Centre (PWC) that was formally G2; the space is generous and will allow the Careers & Pathways Team to work efficiently with students and parents and generate positive outcomes for all involved. The first week of term is always the busiest with the Careers team out on Year 12 Camp Look out Melbourne Uni, ACU and RMIT FGSC is on our way! Can there actually be a better start to the Car...eers Calendar?!?! #careersgeek **The first half of this year will be a MAJOR focus on Year 10 Work Experience, which will take place in Week 2 of Term 2. We would like to encourage ALL Year 10 students to focus on industries of INTEREST. Work experience is an opportunity to interact with people/employers that work within your aspiring career. Learn industry knowledge, communication and confidence! If you are a Year 10 student and missed the handouts involved in getting started; please come in and see Ms Irwin and Ms Taylor for assistance

23.01.2022 On Monday the 17th of June, Fountain Gate Secondary College held its annual VCE Careers and Pathways Showcase. Twenty-seven institutes set up in the gymnasium from higher education, TAFE and job service providers to offer students and parents with pathway options, booklets, gift bags and presentations. This included representatives from major Universities, Defence Australia, Victorian Police and local community groups. It was amazing to see a lot of younger students attending... the evening and taking the initiative to learn about the range of opportunities and possibilities available to them. We had students discover new potential pathways and passions, asking a range of mature and sophisticated questions to gauge a better understanding of their future pathways. Many students used this opportunity to discover their whats next whilst thinking about their pre-requisite studies for upcoming course counselling days and post-secondary school choices. Following the showcase were multiple Pathway Presentations hosted by the Careers and Pathways Team and included guest speakers from our Alliance school, Hallam Secondary College and Headstart. This was attended by the Year 10 cohort to inform them on where they can take their studies next year, the subjects offered and how they can utilise the Colleges relationship with Hallam Secondary College and Gleneagles Secondary College to fully gauge the breadths of subjects offered. Additionally, our Alumni Presentation ran by Alumni Co-ordinator Ms. Gonzales and assisted by this years school Alumni Leader, Farishta Hussaini, welcomed Alisha Keyzer 98, Megan Mulhall 10, Dominique Cuschieri 15 and Liam Sell 16 who shared their post Year 12 stories. All presenters spoke highly of the College and reflected on the lessons they learned while at Fountain Gate Secondary College. The speakers spoke independently about the importance of mentors, a work-life balance and building a positive relationship with your teachers . We would like to thank everyone who supported the event. The feedback from students and the stall holders was absolutely fantastic and extremely positive We look forward to the knowledge and feedback being reflected in the career counselling that students undertake in Term 3 and 4. We cannot wait for the 2020 VCE Careers and Pathways Showcase. See you next year!

22.01.2022 The University of Melbourne - a dream for some, reality for others. Check out some of our past students who are living and working towards their dreams

21.01.2022 What a day it has been for the Year 12s, exploring The University of Melbourne; lots of walking, lots of talking and a fabulous motivational speaker who spoke confidentantly about his pathway and his struggles - which coincidently had him changing Uni courses from sports science to commerce, then deferring his Degree and following his passion in small business and clothing design. Day 1, in the bag (well its currently movie time!!!) - Day 2 hopefully not as much heat but just as much enthusiasm in discovering University pathways!

21.01.2022 Fantastic day out at the 2019 VCE and Careers Expo at the Caulfield Racecourse! On the 03.05.19, 80 of our VCE students attended Australias biggest career and education expo where they spoke to university providers and registered training organisations about pathway options, career goals, and opportunities

Sports, nutrition, health, coaching and believe it or not; teaching are some great career choices that will challenge you and change you.

Read on! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is an admissions test used by the UCAT ANZ Consortium of universities in Australia and New Zealand for their medical, dental and clinical science degree programmes.
