25.01.2022 Basil and Sassy update! These 2 kittens are inseparable. When they first came into care both were scared and hissy. It didn't take long for Basil to become the world's most cuddly and cute cat, however Sassy has had a harder time adjusting. Sassy is happy to play around her humans and hang out in the room with them, however she is very much a look and don't touch me cat! Basil taught Sassy how to clean herself properly, (she was VERY dirty when she first came in). Ever since then they have been bonded. Whilst Sassy enjoys spending time with her foster carers cat Hamish (omg cheating), she always finds her way back to cuddles with Basil!

25.01.2022 Parkour kitten style! Please note these kittens have all been adopted, however we do have litters that will become available over the next couple of months. Send us a message for further information!

24.01.2022 Question: What does a mumma cat do when she is finally safe, warm with endless food and the babies are sleeping? Answer: Well if you are lucky enough to be Yuki you watch TV and the awesome program your foster mum has put on for you!

24.01.2022 RIP our little angels. As mentioned found hearts lost a beautiful litter of five kittens to parvo last week. It broke us, but we are slowly gluing the pieces back together. These beautiful babies left this world too fast and too young. They should have had years of living their best happy life ahead of them. Each one had their own family waiting eagerly to adopt them and love them. Each one was loved by Found Hearts and each one is missed.... Rest easy sweet angels and know you were loved Holly xx

24.01.2022 On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me.. a Yuki! Yuki and her kittens are going well! Yuki's foster mum has helped this mumma cat go from frightened street cat to a relaxed house cat. SHE EVEN PLAYS WITH TOYS NOW!

They can go into foster care together or separately. What they most need is a safe place where they can relax and learn to cat ! If you would like to foster them please apply now and message the page: https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/foster-application-form/

24.01.2022 CONGRATS MUMMA! On Saturday we trapped 2 heavily pregnant street cats. The first one has started giving birth this morning!! We were just intime to offer these mummas a safe and warm place to have their last litter.

24.01.2022 Another vet day done! We had a very busy day, please see the following updates: 1. Our newest arrivals, Emerald, Cleopatra and Marbles all had a dose of cat flu and poor Marbles had a very sore and red raw bottom. With antibiotics all around and some cream for poor Marbles hopefully they will all be on the road to recovery soon. ... Emerald has gone off to her new foster and Marbles and Cleopatra will be moving very soon. 2. Salem went in for a simple desex but sometimes things are not so simple. He has one ball that never descended so his surgery has been delayed as it’s now more complex. He also has a nasty cut on his foot which has been cleaned and antibiotics provided. Salem was found to be FIV + but that won’t slow this handsome boy down. 3. Ice Bear has been desexed and sadly he had to be saved and lost his beautiful coat. He was so matted there was no other option. Ice Bear also came back as FIV positive. 4. Jnr was surrendered as a male but after some interesting behaviour from his foster brother (desexed) we started to have our suspicions. We aren’t always able to touch our cats for a while so sometimes we aren’t too sure. Turns out Jnr is a girl, now desexed! 5. Mirror was taken in for a checkup and sadly it was found her pregnancy wasn’t viable so she was desexed yesterday. Our poor sweetheart, she was just too young. 6. Desire was another unknown for us but believed to be female, surprise she’s actually a now desexed boy! 7. Night stalker, Leo and Lola were also desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and FIV tested. Thank you to all our wonderful foster carers and followers for your support!

23.01.2022 Meet the beautiful Kinder! Kinder travelled a long way before she arrived on our doorstep! From northern NSW to Lara she is now in the trusting hands of one of our fosters. Kinder displayed some behaviour problems so was moved to an experienced behaviouralist to work with her and resolve some of her more challenging mannerisms. The amazing work of our foster can be easily seen in this video!... Kinder if five years old and is quickly learning not only how to live a normal domestic life but also how to do some pretty amazing tricks! The behavioural changes in this girl is nothing short of amazing and shows how rehabilitation does work! A big thank you to our foster carers, without your help, dedication and amazing work, cats like Kinder wouldn’t be given the chance at a new and relaxing life!

22.01.2022 Some days I wonder if I can get up tomorrow and do it all again. Some days I consider walking away. The pain, the heartache, the emotional agony of watching kittens lives taken unfairly too soon. Having to tell people who waited patiently, excitedly for their new family member to arrive only to be told that won’t be the case. Told that today they died or were euthanised before they suffered any more. Today is one of those days. Today is one of the worst of those days. Today, ...Continue reading

22.01.2022 Transformation Tuesday Meet Naughty (now known as Tom)! Naughty came to us with his brother Nice, named according to their behaviour.. Naughty has been in foster care with his brother for a couple of months. He started out hissing, scratching and getting very protective of his foster carers bathroom (human shower time came with scratches for a few weeks!)... Naughty has graduated from his bad behaviour and is now a relaxed friendly boy. These 2 boys will be ready for adoption in a few weeks! Keep a look out!

21.01.2022 These girls have found their new forever home!! Foster to Adopt: Cleopatra and Marbles are looking for a new forever home even though they are not quite ready for adoption yet.... These two girls are around 4-6 months old and put a whole new spin on friendly and playful. They love pats, love to purr and love to play with you. Behaviourally they are a dream and a pleasure to have around the house. The girls are extremely friendly and are a bonded pair. They do currently have cat flu which they are recovering from but still do need antibiotics daily. The girls will remain under Found Hearts until they are fully vet worked and recovered from cat flu. We are unable to do their desex until they are healthy. All medical expenses while in foster care will be covered by found hearts. Due to the cat flu they must go to a house where they are the only cats. If your interested please message the page for more information! Cheers Holly

21.01.2022 Meet Junior! Junior is lucky enough to be provided with a home and love by one of our foster carers and their adopted cat Tito (Ginger). Junior (right) came to us as a boy, but we very soon discovered (with a little help from Tito) that Junior but was in fact a girl! A trip to the vet followed and Junior was desexed, vaccinated, microchip and tested FIV negative.... When Junior first arrived she was extremely skittish and hid under the bed or the couch, cue the introduction of Tito. Suddenly Junior came out of hiding and started following Tito around the house and the two fast became friends! Junior is still skittish with human contact but is slowly adjusting to the realisation that having human slaves is actually an enjoyable experience! Junior will be in our care until she has relaxed and learnt how to live indoors and accept human affection. I would like to thank Asher and Htet for opening their homes and hearts once again for a street cat and providing Junior with all the love and support she needs during her transition from street cat to domestic goddess!

20.01.2022 It has been an extremely hard couple of weeks here at the street cat project. Kitten season is well under way, and sadly this also means that problems come close on its heals. Kitten survival rates for street cats is extremely low, some quoted figures show that its believed 75% of kittens don’t survive to be six months of age (AVMA) and those we manage to get off the street often suffer from malnutrition through the essential stages of pregnancy. While the survival rate is dr...astically increased for kittens in our care, many still suffer from illness and diseases from their life on the streets. Fading kitten syndrome also comes and haunts you every kitten season. Sadly this year we have already lost 8 kittens across our litters. Each of these kittens and their litters have and will continue to visit the vet to try and grasp any chance of survival, and sadly these vet bills start to add up until we are suddenly struggling financially. I know that this year has been extremely hard on everyone, and that COVID has taken its toll, but any size donation is so very helpful, and let’s us continue to get the best possible care for our fur babies. Thank you in advance, and please even if your unable to help, share this post for us onto your local and other group pages to help us pay our forever increasing vet bills. Thank you, Holly xx

20.01.2022 On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me, 4 calling birds.. or is it 2 camouflaged kittens..? Peaches and Pickles are loving their new home! They are part of our foster to adopt program. This program is set up so cats that arn't quite ready for adoption due to health or behaviour reasons have a chance to settle into their forever home with their forever family! This allows us to help support the new pet parents for longer and the cats to have a smoother transition ...to their forever home. 18.01.2022 Reintroducing Night Stalker as Morticia Addams! On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me 3 French Hens. Morticia certainly loves chicken! Morticia has been with us in foster care since she took it upon herself to break into Hollys house to theive food. Rehabilitating Morticia has been no easy task as she is a law breaker through and through. She now roams the house, plays with her foster siblings and eats ALL the food. She still hisses if a human gets too close but is confident wandering the house infront of the humans. Morticia still has a long way to go, but with each day she is adjusting to the comforts of a queen.

17.01.2022 PLEASE HELP! PLEASE SHARE! Today is Giving Tuesday. It could not have come at a more pivotal time in our organisation’s history. Why? Because we are facing the wall. Yes, it is extremely hard to admit it, but that brick wall is looming so very close and without your help we are going to hit it next week. We have saved so many, cared for those whose family could not, found wonderful homes for the drought stricken, the abused, the used, the neglected and the rejected. We have s...aved so many cats from death and given life to many gorgeous kittens but most of all we have provided hope. Hope is also the only thing which is keeping us going now. Hope that you will help us through this holiday period. Hope that you will allow us to give more animals and families their own version of hope. Christmas can be such a sad time for those stuck in pounds, on the street, or simply left behind. We need to be part of the gladness for them! They need to be given a chance to see another Christmas, one in a safe home where they will be loved and cherished furever. We cannot do it alone. That brick wall is coming but you can help push it back by simply donating a bit each. Maybe think of it as a little present for those in need? We ensure that every donated cent is spent on the animals themselves and nothing on wages, admin, or any other expenses so you can rest easy knowing that you have helped. You have given us hope and you have given an animal hope! Without your generosity we simply can not continue........ So please, this Giving Tuesday please consider a donation to Found Hearts. Together we can break down that wall! Bank: Westpac Account name: Found Hearts BSB: 034122 Account number: 728660 PayPal: [email protected] PLEASE SHARE!

16.01.2022 WHAT IS FELINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (FIV) AND WHY YOU SHOULD STILL ADOPT! FIV is an viral infection that only affects cats. It is estimated to be present in approximately 14-29 percent of Australia’s cat population. Cats are most commonly infected with FIV through bite wounds. Once infected a cat will remain infected with the virus for life, and after a period that may last several years, the virus may damage the cat’s immune response and lead to signs of disease. FIV infe...cts cells of the immune system. The virus may kill or damage the cells it infected, or compromise their normal function. This may eventually cause a gradual decline in the cat’s immune function. Many FIV infected cats are able to live happily with the virus for a long period of time, and indeed the virus will not necessarily ever cause clinical disease. Multiple medical studies show that cats who test positive for FIV live just as long as FIV negative cats. Our FIV positive cats must go to an indoor only home, other cats in the home must have FIV vaccinations or also be FIV positive. Treat an FIV positive cat with compassion, care and affection, they are just as curious and loveable as a cat without this condition. 16.01.2022 WARNING - SOME DISTRESSING CONTENT We would like to introduce you to a very special boy - Mystery. This little man was one of three kittens found in a lady’s backyard. We think the mother cat may have brought them there. Mystery was found first - alone. He was distressed and in pain because there was a tight bangle around his neck and his front leg was also stuck inside the bangle - presumably because he had struggled to free himself. One of Mystery’s back legs was broken. ... There is no point in asking why anyone would do this. The cruelty is unspeakable. We just have to deal with confronting, heartbreaking situations such as this and keep in sight that things can only improve for the cat we save and that there will be a special someone who will provide him/her with a truly loving forever home. It is amazing how animals can forgive and trust again. Mystery has to have his broken leg amputated. The operation will take place next Wednesday and we are asking if anyone is able to donate something towards this big procedure. Any donation - big or small - would be so greatly appreciated.

16.01.2022 Adoption Update! The beautiful Panda came to us as a surrender from a wonderful lady who had been looking after Panda and her family for a long time. Panda was about four months old when she came in with her mum Sprinkles and wasn’t the biggest fan of being touched. She always had one weak spot however, food! Apparently even when living with her family in the neighbourhood she would always push others away to get to her food! Panda spent a couple of months in foster where her... amazing foster carer taught her not only how to cat, but also what human love feels like. I will never forget the first conversations I had with pandas new forever family. I had sent over a few photos including panda. From the second I sent that photo she was hooked and Panda was hers! Something spoke to her in those photos and she knew that Panda was the perfect new companion. Since that day I have watched Panda continue to flourish to the confident, sweet, snuggly beautiful kitty that she now is. She is Queen of her house and extremely well lived, and the videos clearly show that Panda loves her human just as much! It’s amazing to see the transformation from a terrified kitten clinging to mum, to the beautiful confident cat she now is. I would like to thank all three of Panda’s families, street cat, foster and adoption, for giving her such an amazing chance at having a wonderful life. Thank you to the wonderful lady that made sure Panda always had food and spent so much time working on socialising her while still living on the street. Your endless dedication to this family reminds me often that there are some pretty incredible people still in the world! Thank you to her foster family for the patience and understanding shown to panda to help her adjust to living inside. This process can be hard and frustrating at times but also so very rewarding. Thank you for opening up your home and giving Panda the love she needed to adjust. And a very big thank you to Panda’s forever family for giving her such a wonderful home. You have opened your home and heart to this beautiful girl and she couldn’t have asked for a better family to spend her new life with. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and in the case of Panda it’s taken three families to give her the life of luxury that she deserves. Holly xx

16.01.2022 SICK KITTENS - MUM IN LABOUR - THE ESCAPEE Our last 24hours has been tears, joys and hard work. Yesterday:... 1. Sick kittens: 3 little kittens arrived. They were severely underweight (we can feel every bone), flea infested, bloated with worms, sneezing and had eye discharge (cat flu), and were just wanting cuddles! They have now been bathed, treated for fleas and worms and are on antibiotics. And have lots of food cuddles and toys 2. Whilst we were treating the sick kittens, one of our mums went into labour. This mum had only just arrived into care as well and was still very scared. This mum tried her best, but ended up rejecting the kittens. We lost 2 of the newborns. The rest of the newborns have found a surrogate mum, and are happily feeding away with there new mum and siblings. Photo 3 of kittens with their surrogate mum (mum of the year award). 3. The ESCAPEE: during all of this a lady dropped off ANOTHER cat. This cat had to wait whilst we tried to manage the other situations first. When moving the cat the carrier broke! The cat ran straight into the bedroom, we spent the next hour trying to retrap the cat. We were all so tired and couldn't managed to retrieve him. Holly now had another cat living under her bed!

15.01.2022 Adoption Update! Look at the amazing Fred! I cannot believe that this is the same boy that we dragged in from a farm many months ago. When Fred first arrived to us with 8 of his family members, he was scared and afraid of his own shadow. Mistakingly we first thought Fred was a girl, who we named Ginger as he had no balls. However we later realised that Ginger was actually a boy, whose testicles never dropped and he needed surgery to have these removed! He was then gifted the ...name Fred! Fred was known colloquially as grumpy cat, as no matter what he was doing he forever looked like a grumpy old man. So to see him now, in his forever home looking years younger, and no longer grumpy, has warmed our hearts and helped us remember why we push through the hard days. Fred has landed himself Into a home where he is King and is treated as such. His life revolves around Fred, and he has two servants who cater to his needs. The results of which, you can see in his photos. We would like to say thank you to Fred’s new family for providing him with such an amazing new forever home. You have given this street cat the life of luxury that he always deserved.

15.01.2022 The beautiful rose is ready for adoption! Rose is approximately 12-18 months old and she loves to come snuggle up with you and get a scratch under the chin! This pretty girl may be shy at first and will need a home where her family will be patient and allow her to come out of her shell, however that patience will be rewarded tenfold in love and hugs as soon as she’s comfortable in her environment!... Rose is currently living in a house with other cats, children and a dog. She will happily coexist with another dog, but doesn’t seem interested in interacting with them. She has been fine with other cats, and would be suitable for kids above ten, or who are used to being around cats who will at first need some space. Rose has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, FIV tested (negative), flea, wormed and health checked! No health concerns were raised during her examination. If you think you could give Rose her perfect home please enquire today! https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/adoption-application-form/ Adoption fee: $180 Microchip number: 953010004915020 PER: EE100272

14.01.2022 We would like to say a massive thank you to LifeWise for the generous donation of food. They have also provided us with packs to send home with our new adoptions making the new transition home that much easier! With so many cats on our books we struggle to feed everyone, and donations such as this make our life that much easier! LifeWise offer both cat and dog food, that is not only Australian made but is also grain free and healthy for both cats and dogs. We have started integrating our fosters onto this food and they love it, especially the kangaroo variety!

14.01.2022 I’m sorry it’s been a few days between posts as you can imagine we have had our hands full with cleaning and sanitising! I wanted to say a massive thank you to our followers for the support over the last week. Your messages and also financial support is greatly appreciated! I would also like to thank rescues who reached out to offer us support. A massive thank you to Gina from Cat People of Melbourne for lending us a fogger to clean our impacted houses, and trying to help us... remain afloat, your help is greatly appreciated. Finally, thank you to our foster carers, it’s been a massive week, a heartbreaking week, a week of uncertainty and you have all stood by us and kept us going. Thank you, Holly xx

14.01.2022 Meet Teflon (Teffy), As you all know we have recently struggled with Panleukopenia (Parvo) within our rescue and lost many cats and kittens along the way. While we have eradicated parvo and we are up and running again the impacts are still being felt within the rescue. During this time we also had a litter who had not only been exposed to Parvo but were also fighting off the worst case of worms that I have ever seen. They were wormed and proceeded to vomit up round worms and ...tape worms for days. They were then wormed again with the same outcome shortly after. Sadly, 10 of the 11 kittens in the litter did not survive, but Teflon did! Teflon is currently 360g yet is 8 to 9 weeks of age. He should be 800-900g at least at his age. Post worming he got as low as 200g. His mother‘s milk had dried up due to the worms and we were unable to move him to another mother due to infection control. So for the last few weeks Teflon has had to battle not only against the loss of nutrients from worms but also his exposure to Parvo while weighing less than a quarter of his healthy weight! Against all odds Teflon survived with assistance with syringe feeding, syringe fluids, medication and sheer determination and a strong Will to live. He has now left my house to go live with his new foster carer (human) and foster mum (feline and human) where he is finally worm free and getting the nutrients he need from both food and his new mumma! I know we often forget to worm our pets and the days overdue can become months overdue quickly, but I cannot stress enough how important worming really is. Cats and kittens especially, can die from being riddled with worms taking all their nutrients! Teflon has a long way to go, but he has the support of the rescue, his new foster mum and his new kitty mum behind him helping him along! Keep fighting Teffy, you’ve got this! Holly xx

14.01.2022 *on adoption trial* Meet Stevie Wonder Stevie Wonder is a beautiful boy approx 4 years old with a loving personality who is ready to find a forever home where he can continue living his best life. However, this boy will need some support. Stevie Wonder has some medical conditions that will require love, patience and some careful attention. ... Stevie W has a mild heart murmur which means that his heart makes an unusual sound. And just like humans this usually doesn’t require any treatment or medication but is a condition that will need ongoing monitoring. This gorgeous affectionate boy was born with his tail fused to his lower back. This is not an immediate concern but as he ages he may require a little extra assistance. Once again just like humans when pesky arthritis kicks in he will need some extra TLC! Both his conditions can be easily managed with regular monitoring. This might sound like a big responsibility, but it will come with high reward. Stevie W is incredibly friendly, cuddly, and brings an air of happiness with him wherever he goes. He doesn’t let his physical challenges interfere with his spirit. He loves humans, cats, dogs and just loves life. If anyone is interested in taking our darling Stevie W under their wing, please fill out the application form by clicking on the below link. Please be aware that his pre-existing medical conditions will need to be accepted and understood by whoever is lucky enough to adopt him. 14.01.2022 Meet Salem! Salem we believe is approximately a year old and came to us with his sister Elsa. Salem went to the vet last week to have his standard vet work done and we found that he has Cryptorchidism, which means that one of his testes didn’t descend so his desex is going to be a longer surgery which is booked in next week. Salem came back as FIV positive and therefore had to be separated from his sister (who had a litter we believe that he also fathered). Sadly Salem was al...so traumatised by the events that happened last week, but has started to settle again back in his original foster home (he was only at my place so he could be taken to our vet.) Salem is still unsure on human contact and progress will he slow. For that reason we are looking for a foster to adopt situation, where his new home will sign of to be his foster carer, and will eventually adopt him after his vet work and socialisation has been completed. As one of our foster carers you will have our full support on socialising Salem and helping him settle into his new home, and working him up to being used to human contact. All vet work will be paid for by Found Hearts, as he will remain our cat until we all agree he is ready for adoption. At the two month mark, if not already adopted, we can reassess his situation, but we will need a two month commitment as moving Salem too often is not good for his rehabilitation. It is for this reason we would like to take this final step in his rehabilitation in his forever home rather than a foster home. If you are interested in fostering to adopt Salem please contact the page directly so that we can talk further about your application.

14.01.2022 I am pretty sure when Saskia’s foster carer and I discussed the challenges often faced when fostering street cats, sacrificing your couch to cute little fur balls wasn’t covered!! 13.01.2022 Today the Richmond community banded together to save this little darling affectionately named Bluey by her rescuers. A concerned walker heard Bluey crying in a drain and was unable to get her out. After calling around including the fire brigade she put a post on a local Facebook page asking for help. One of our wonderful fosters Hannah saw the post and made contact with the team trying to rescue Bluey. A lovely couple Shannen and her partner Tom also saw the post and offered ...to help as Tom is a plumber. Amazingly Tom managed to save Bluey and get her out of the drain! Bluey was delivered safely into the hands of Hannah and Goblin made sure she was doing well! She was then picked up by our other wonderful foster carer Jen who has a mum and litter about the same age as Bluey! Chai being the wonderful mum that she is accepted Bluey into the fold and She is now happily living and playing with her adopted siblings. We would like to thank everyone involved in rescuing Bluey and helping to get her safely into the caring arms of her new foster family Chai, and babies Pumpkin, Vanilla, Peppermint and Caramel!! Bluey is not available for adoption as one of the wonderful rescuers would like to welcome her into their home when she is ready xx

12.01.2022 As you all know we have been fighting parvo within our rescue for a couple of weeks. Thankfully it’s isolated to a few houses and many of our Cats and kittens have been spared this awful disease. The best defence against parvo is the F3 vaccination for cats and kittens. Having one vaccination helps but having the completes course saves lives. Our wonderful vet, Meow & Friends Community Vet made us an offer that will help us elimate this virus within our rescue and came a...t a time that we desperately needed the help. The lovely Hannah and staff have given up their Saturday off to vaccinate all of our cats off site. As this is parvo their full disease protocol has meant that not only are they safe, but also there will be no more spread within our rescue. Not only have they given up their Saturday but also the hours of time that went into planning and preparation to ensure that everyone remains safe and healthy. A big thank you to Caitlin Martin, one of our wonderful staff, who also has spent the day working with Meow and Friends to pull this off. I cannot thank them enough for their time and effort today, as it means every cat and kitten of age has had their first/or final vaccination. It means that I can sleep at night knowing that this will not spread further than those already impacted. Thank you isn’t a big enough word for helping us save the lives of our babies and eliminate this virus. It means the world to the rescue and myself, and I will be forever grateful! Holly xx

11.01.2022 Our beautiful Mau Mau has been adopted! When Mau first arrived at his foster carers house she was told that he was a pregnant female! A few weeks down the track the vet soon discovered that he was in fact a male who was ready to be desexed , (our lovely Holly often mixes up our cats genders). Mau was not what you would call an easy foster cat and it took him a while to understand that humans aren't all bad. Thank you to our foster carer Hannah! You have taught this boy how ...to love, play and accept bribes for pats . He couldn't have made it this far without your help! Congratulations Dale and Donna! You have adopted a cat very close to our hearts and we thank you for the amazing work you have done to help Mau adjust to a new environment, learn to live with big dogs and take his final step to becoming a happy, little house cat .

11.01.2022 *** UPDATE 8/12/2020 - Jinx is going on an Adoption Trial. Yay!! Good Luck Jinx & Gloria!!! *** The sweet sweet Jinx! Jinx is approximately three years old and while he can be a little shy at first he is such a sweet and loving boy. He is easily handled and loves to be pet while showing no signs of aggression at all.... Jinx is a special boy who is happy to be around other cats, and will coexist with dogs provided they leave him be to do his own thing. While at first shy with humans, once he breaks out of his shell he makes for a wonderful companion. Jinx has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated. He is also FIV negative so he is now fully ready for his new home! If you think you can provide Jinx his perfect home please fill out the following application: https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/foster-application-form/ Adoption Fee: $180 Microchip: 95 600 001 309 0543 PER: EE100272

11.01.2022 Please desex your cats, because their offspring will become someone’s rescue cat and some will sadly be euthanised while someone like me holds them, apologising for the hand they have been dealt, while losing a piece of their soul. Kinder sadly crossed the rainbow bridge today. Her hurdles were too high, and we couldn’t save her. I don’t know how she ended up homeless, or what happened to her in her first five years of life. I don’t know how she ended up in our rescue or what... happened that was the catalyst to me holding her today while she took her last breaths. Sadly, she couldn’t talk and tell me her tale. What we do know is that she was left at a pound and eventually found her way to us. By the time she arrived she had severe neurological problems and we tried to help her through and save her, but she was too far down the path to bring back. She was five and only desexed in August this year. She was five and her life was cut short today. Please desex your cats. For every cat I have to hold, stare into their eyes as the life drains from them, apologise for their life being cut short, cry for the confusion and pain staring back at me, a piece of my soul is left behind. Please desex your cats. For every cat I cannot save, that is on the streets starving, suffering from malnutrition, having litter after litter, scared, cold, unwanted, my heart breaks a little more. Please desex your cats. So that cats like Kinder, and Nina earlier this week, aren’t joined by many more who have been so damaged by their life on the streets we have no other option and can only provide them love in their last moments as they leave this life behind. Please desex your cats. If you think that they need to have a litter and be a mum for the sake of being complete, or that your boy won’t be as much a boy desexed, or because kittens are cute, think about Kinder. Think about Nina. Think about the other cats whose lives are cut short because they are homeless and sick. Please desex your cats. Your decision to not desex your cat, to not stop it from having litter after litter, results in days like today, where a life is cut short. RIP Kinder. Fly free over the rainbow bridge. You may have been left behind, but you were loved and you will not be forgotten. I’m sorry I couldn’t save you, but hopefully it won’t all be for naught. Hopefully this message resonates with at least one person; and they desex their cat. Rest easy Kinder, forever in my heart xx

09.01.2022 Wishing all our friends, family, followers & fur babies a fabulous Christmas!!! Eat Drink Enjoy!!!

09.01.2022 Rescue is an area with ups and downs and you never quite know where each day will take you. Sadly today was not one of our better days. Nina came to us pregnant. She had four babies but sadly one was stillborn. After the still born baby, she stopped feeding her remaining babies and they were taken in by another mother. We believed that this meant life would now be all about Nina and our princess would have her time to shine. She was desexed last week, and sadly was diagnosed ...today with FIP. FIP is a side affect that some cats develop after having feline corona virus at some point in their lives. Majority of cats will recover from feline corona with no issues, some however sadly develop FIP at some point in their lives. The knowledge of why some cats develop FIP and others don’t is not really known. Today at 230pm Nina grew her angel wings and crossed the rainbow bridge. I was with Nina when she took her first steps into her new life with us, and I held Nina while she took her last breaths of life today. Rest In Peace Nina, fly free, happy and painfree. I am sorry we couldn’t save you and provide you the life that you so very much deserved. Holly xx

09.01.2022 Please meet the beautiful Pua who has come into our care as an owner surrender. Such a stunning girl! She is now sunning herself in the house of one of our team!

09.01.2022 Merry Christmas! Apologies it’s been a while since the last update, things have been hectic but we are nearly through the worst of it. Thankfully we have the parvo outbreak contained and have nearly eradicated it from the rescue, with a few still healing in our care. Sadly we lost too many of our babies along the way to recovery, something that weights heavily on everyone involved.... I have to apologise to everyone we have had to tell our intake was on hold, it was essential we stopped for a period of time to get things safe and under control, but in the new year we will be back up and running to full capacity! Thank you for your patience and understanding! Through all of this however we have made some awesome progress with our kitties! Bear is ready for foster to adopt with his new best buddy Salem! And such a cute pair they make!! When first introduced they played ball between the crate bars, then when allowed to interact Bear jumped straight into Salem’s bed and they have snuggled ever since! Bear has made such amazing progress from the scared, timid and sick boy who arrived compared to the amazing boy who is ready to head onto his next adventure! Ice Bear has made incredible progress and is also ready for adoption! This boy has gone from street cat and couch cat seemingly well! He is super friendly and loves human company! He is in need of a new hairdo however as his hair was matted and needed a shave. Meow & Friends Community Vet did a wonderful job with his vet work, but well his grooming is somewhat creative! This boy is close to my heart as he represents what this whole project is about, giving street cats a new chance at life! Finally, thank you so much for all of your support during the last few weeks. There were days when I considered walking away, the pain and the heartache was just too much, but the support from everyone has helped us push through and come out the other side stronger than before! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and please stay safe over the new year! 08.01.2022 Please meet Yuki! Yuki was a street cat who has traded in a life of starvation and sleeping rough for a life of luxury and watching television. Yuki has been in our care now for a few weeks and is living on the couch of our wonderful foster carer Flora. She has taken to watching television and seems content to spend her days lazing around waiting for her babies to be born.... Sadly street cats like Yuki who have had bad nutrition for most of their pregnancy are at risk for still births and other complications with the babies. Hopefully Yuki and her babies are born without complications. We are extremely thankful to our foster carer Flora for taking such wonderful care of Yuki and providing her with the opportunity to live a normal life now.

07.01.2022 Hi all, We are in desperate need of foster carers for FIV positive cats! To be eligible: - no other cats... - OR the cats must also be FIV positive - OR if you do have cats that are not fiv positive: you have the capacity to separate the foster cat from your personal cat. E.g. second living room that can be set up as a foster cat retreat! Street cats are more likely to contract FIV due to the circumstances they were in before coming to our rescue. FIV is transmitted from cat to cat through a deep bite, most commonly during a cat fight. FIV cats can live long, happy and healthy lives! If this isn't you but you would still like to foster, we also need more regular foster carers, message the page :). https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/foster-application-form/

07.01.2022 Hello Everyone! We just need to let you know that for the immediate short term future we are unable to take in new cats or kittens. We are at capacity.

07.01.2022 Thanks Mandy! We love our handmade blankets. Pictured: Squirt, Big Fluff and Tabitha were the first to try out their new blankets.

05.01.2022 Update: Percy has been adopted and is now in his forever home!! Please meet Percy! Percy came to us as a surrender and he was not in the greatest of conditions. The lovely lady who had been feeding him since he was abandoned by a previous neighbour was concerned about his health and condition.... After a trip to the vet, and an awful lot of love by our wonderful foster carer Karen as you can see Percy is feeling much better these days! Percy is going in for desex on Thursday to complete his vet work now that he is feeling much better. While Percy has tested FIV positive he won’t let this hold him down or stop him from enjoying his life!

05.01.2022 Peaches (sister of Pickles) is hard at work this morning! #melbournelockdown #workingfromhome Peaches and Pickles are not available for adoption yet, if you are interested in them please watch for updates on our page. :)

05.01.2022 We love seeing our street cats in their forever homes! Mau Mau certainly loves his forever home, he's treated like a King! Thanks Dale and Donna for giving this boy the best forever home.

04.01.2022 Foster to adopt!! Some of our longer term residents are almost ready for adoption and we feel their best next step is a foster to adopt arrangement. Street cats go through many phases of socialisation. The first covers the initial transition from street or pound living to being inside a house and confronted with humans. ... Then we have their health work, with not only desexing, vaccinating, microchip and FIV test but also any other health concerns found along their journey. From here it becomes about learning to live the life of a domestic cat, kitty litter, unlimited food for free, human slavery and learning to boss around the dog. Finally it comes to human contact, touch, and accepting love. These fur babies are almost at the end of this journey and they have their final step ahead of them, learning that touch can be enjoyable. There is always a delicate balance between working with our cats in care and building a strong trusting relationship with them, yet not building it so strongly that the transition to their forever home because extremely difficult and sets them backwards. Therefore, we are moving these babies into a foster to adopt situation. It’s not as easy as a straight adoption, but wow is it so rewarding. It will take patience and understanding while you slowly build up the trust between yourself and your new family member and we will be there to help you every step of the way. We will keep them as officially Found Hearts until such time that everyone feels confident including your new family member! Please watch the page for an individual post for Salem, Mau, Ice Bear and Sassy!

04.01.2022 Good Morning, First my apologies for the slow down in updates from the page, and to those waiting for assistance with stray cats. We wanted to let you know that we have had an incident last week of break and enter at one of our houses, and the cat crates were left open. Some of our babies are still missing, so if you see any of these cats please contact us immediately. As this is now under police investigation we are unable to provide detailed information but ask for your pat...ience in the upcoming days as we try to resolve this matter and get back on track. I would like to personally thank the members of Found Hearts, the other rescues who have offered their support and those members of the public who have helped so very much in the last few days. I don’t think I could have gotten through without you. I am devestated by what has happened, but also just as determined to find my missing babies and get my home secure again so I can offer a haven for homeless street cats. For now we have had to close intake while we reshuffle and find foster homes for those that were released but thankfully found within the house. If you are able to open your home even temporarily to help us out please message the page directly. Once again thank you for your patience and understanding and my apologies for those I was in the process of trying to help. The last few days have been devastating, but made easier by the support of those around me. Holly xx

04.01.2022 *ADOPTED* THEODORE IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Meet Sir Theodore! He is the most affectionate cat ever!!!!! Theodore is looking for a home where his human will be home all the time to pat and cuddle him, he just loves it so much. Ideally a retired person looking for a companion, or a home where someone is always there to give him a pat. Theo is FIV+, this means he must be kept indoors and be an only cat, other cats are ok as long as they have their FIV vaccinations up to date. ... Please note that Theo will meow and meow if his humans aren't there to reassure him. Thus it is a requirement that you are retired or can prove that you work from home in a post Covid world. PER: EE100272 MC: 956000012143604

04.01.2022 Another vet day done! Here is an update on this weeks vet trip: 1. Eeyore had his teeth cleaned and all dental work done and in a few days will be able to eat pain free!! Thank you for all of those that donated and made this possible!... 2. Autumn finished off her vetwork and has been adopted into her new family! She’s very happy with her sister Munchkin! 3. Gem is to be desexed today as one ball hadn’t dropped! He has come back as FIV positive but that won’t slow him down! He has found a forever home and will be with his new family soon. 4. Paul came to us this week and needed a dental check. All is good on the dental front, however he has a skin infection from over grooming and is now on treatment for that! 5. Percy came to us last week, he came back as FIV positive and will finish out his vet work next week! 6. Sprinkles is one of our long term rehab patients. Her behaviour is slowly improving and she has now been fully vet worked! She is FIV negative and hopefully once her hormones settle she’ll start to feel better! Sprinkles will need some dental treatment done to help her feel better while eating! 7. Little Tufty has been fully vet worked and is FIV negative! A little recovery and then she will be ready to find her new home! 8. Glitter has been fully vet worked and is FIV negative. I am so relieved for her as she will never have to have another litter again! Her babies days are over! Glitter will need some further dental treatment as well. As always thank you so much for the support and helping us get these babies up to speed on their vetwork.

04.01.2022 Adoption Update Tito! After days like yesterday I go back and watch videos like this, and stories like these as it reminds me why we do what we do! The beautiful Tito came to us from the pound. He was unsure and scared when arriving at his new foster home and liked to hide under the bed!... With a lot of love from his new foster family, Tito started to learn about domestic living and he has, as you can see, fully embraced it! It took patience and persistence from his family to navigate things like litter training and sleeping on the bed not under it. It came as no surprise to me that when I told his foster family that he was ready for adoption they quickly confirmed that they wanted him as a permanent member of their household and really who could blame them? Such a sweet handsome boy! We would like to thank Tito’s family for not only providing Tito with a wonderful forever home but for also opening up their doors to another foster baby Junior! Now Tito has gone from learning the ropes to helping new fosters to also adjust to the domestic lifestyle! Without families like Tito’s we would be unable to do what we do and achieve what we achieve. So thank you, for helping give Tito and others like him a chance at domestic bliss!

03.01.2022 CAT BODY LANGUAGE: PART 3 - THE EARS If you pay attention, you can learn a lot about your cat based on the position of its ears. Here’s a basic breakdown to help you understand cat ear language:... Alert Interest: When your cat notices something interesting, her ears will point straight up and forward. Relaxed: When your cat is relaxed, her ears will point slightly forward and slightly to the side. She feels a sense of wellbeing, and she is neither anxious nor aggressive. Nervous: A nervous cat will twitch her ears, showing agitation. Afraid: ears flattened to the side airplane ears means the cat feels afraid, and may defensively lash out. It’s a good time to give her some space. Attack Mode: When a cat’s ears are pinned back, flat against its head, don’t try to touch or lift her. You may be bitten or scratched and require medical attention. References: https://www.cattitudedaily.com https://www.tbvet.com/cat_body_language.php https://undercoverpethouses.com/

03.01.2022 YUKI Have you considered adopting a young adult cat? So often kittens are abandoned once they grow and to some people it seems they stop being, cute. Young adults are still playful, they still provide plenty of entertainment and affection and they are just as precious as a kitten. The sweet and oh-so-elegant Yuki is 12 months old and is available for adoption! ... Yuki came from a colony in Tarneit and after having her kittens - when she was really just a baby herself - she has adjusted very rapidly to the luxuries of life as an inside cat. She is companionable and sweet and would love a home she can call hers forever. She would be fine with another quiet gentle cat. Yuki will be available from this coming Thursday. Microchip Number: TBA on Thursday She is such a beautiful elegant tuxedo lady - is she the right one for you?

03.01.2022 Hi! Thank you to everyone who has offered their homes and hearts to our street cats. We still need carers for our adult street cats! If you think that you would like to open your home and help a cat grow for a frightened and antisocial fluffball into a cat that learns how to enjoy a pat and regular food please contact us! Please do not enquire about fostering kittens or mums and bubs. These positions require experienced carers as the kittens we have rescued are all very sick... and our mums and bubs need experienced support. Thanks for supporting our mission

Rose is currently living in a house with other cats, children and a dog. She will happily coexist with another dog, but doesn’t seem interested in interacting with them. 02.01.2022 ICE-BEAR UPDATE - available for adoption Ice-bear is loving the attention in his foster home, but not so much his foster feline siblings. He loves a couch cuddle and just wants to nap next to you whilst you work at your desk or watch TV. Ice-bear's ideal human family are all adults who love patting cats! Ice-Bear checklist:... - adults only - no other cats - dog tolerant (dog must be cat friendly) - indoor only - couch time with his new humans Note: Ice-bear previously had very matted fur, this had to be removed buy the vet. Initially his back was very sensitive, however, now he enjoys a full length pat! Ice Bear is FIV positive. FIV positive cats are still able to live full and happy lives. They can have a reduced immune system in comparison to non FIV cats but will still live to a healthy old age. Adoption fee: $180 PER: EE100272 Microchip number: 953010004947337 https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/adoption-application-form/

02.01.2022 *On adoption trial* The handsome Sylvester looking for his forever family. Sylvester is approximately three years old and came to us after spending some time living life as a colony cat. Sylvester is one of those special boys that adjusted quickly to domestic living and now does not want to go back! He decided he much prefers the couch to the streets and endless food to starvation (but who could blame him?).... Sylvester has so much love to give and he is now just looking for the family to give that love to. He gets along well with both cats and dogs and is extremely friendly and smoochy! He prefers to spend time around his family, rather than sitting on his own, and will rub up against you for pats! Unlike many street cats Sylvester settled in quickly and it won’t be long before this handsome boy will be sleeping on your bed! Sylvester is FIV positive which means that he will always be an indoors only snuggle bunny (er cat) and needs to go to a house as an only fur child, with fur children also FIV positive or fur children already vaccinated against FIV. If your looking for a companion who wants to spend time with you, and snuggle up on the couch, please fill out the following application form so we can arrange a date for you and this handsome boy! https://foundhearts.com.au/forms/adoption-application-form/ If you have any enquires please send us a message and we are happy to help! 02.01.2022 Happy Easter! I met an amazing family tonight. I went to help them with a kitty problem, one that we had committed to before we stopped intake and needs our help so our last one for a while. Often in this space you meet so many people from different walks of life. I get so busy sometimes I forget to stop and breathe and relax. First I turned up late (so sorry) but they were an incredible family who had such a wonderful vibe to them. There is a LOT of waiting in rescue but it’...s never quite like this! Poor Otto had missed his walk, and the two primary aged kids played chase up and down the hall, before settling in for a game of piggy in the middle, with Otto being the middle! He had SO much fun; and watching while talking to two wonderful women really made my Easter a wonderful memorable one this year! Thank you for inviting me into your family for a couple of hours, and sharing the joy of kids having fun with Otto and the wonderful company. And thank you for the donations, Leo and Oscar (thank you for the name!!) are already making use of them!! And thank you for reminding me that sometimes I need to stop, sit on the lounge room floor, and enjoy the simple pleasures of playing with Otto and let the stress melt away! The kids were so amazing and sweet and it’s easy to see where they got it from! And thank you for our picture, it’s on our fridge front and centre where it deserves to be! I hope you all had a wonderful and most importantly safe Easter and if your driving home over the next few days please stay safe on the roads. Take care and as always thank you, Holly xx

01.01.2022 *FOSTER CARER NEEDED* Hey found hearts family! We are in need of a new foster for Ice Bear! He is not the friendliest cat but is slowly starting to melt, he allows pats and just needs some love an attention. He is vet worked and has tested positive to FIV so will need to be an only cat foster. If you are interested in fostering him please send us a msg and we will send u the foster application. Thanks everyone for helping our half naked, grumpy man out!
