25.01.2022 I was a guest speaker in a superb webinar organised by High Commission of India (HCI) and Council of Indian Federations of Australia (CIFA) yesterday. The other... guest speaker was Dr Saibal Guha (Psychiatrist from Brisbane). Dr Guha brilliantly covered stress/mental health issues and outlined how we can overcome them and I, being a cardiologist, outlined how heart health is connected with mental health, especially depression. I outlined steps we can take ourselves and as doctors, families and community to deal with these issues in a holistic way. Be supportive, Look out for those who might be in need, Seek help, Don’t attach stigma to mental health issues are some of the steps we ought to take in addition to asking Are you ok? from people in out network to be able to function as a caring society. Dr Shailja Chaturvedi (Sydney) and Dr Murali Reddy (Canberra) made valuable comments during the discussion. This was a great job done by HCI and CIFA. I believe that such webinars should also be posted live on relevant Facebook pages to disseminate the info to more people. I hope to be able to be part of more such webinars in future. 21.01.2022 Let’s remember 9/11 (11 September 2001) terror attacks in the USA, in which thousands of innocent people lost their lives or were gravely injured. Let us also remember the valor of all those who rushed into danger to try and save them. #9/11

17.01.2022 HEALTH ALERT: NSW's ongoing sewage surveillance program has detected COVID-19 virus fragments at two sewage pumping stations in Western Sydney, which serve suburbs of North Kellyville, Rouse Hill, Box Hill, The Ponds, Kellyville Ridge, Parklea, Quakers Hill and Acacia Gardens. NSW Health is concerned that there could be active cases out there in the community and residents could incorrectly assume their symptoms indicate a common cold. GET TESTED EVEN IF YOU HAVE MINOR SYMPTOMS. https://www.news.com.au///1ba8dd15e3a20a4715240b655539783c

16.01.2022 While many Australians may not be able to partake in Holi in the same way that they have in years past, I am confident that the spirit of Holi will endure. I kn...ow that in my own community of Western Sydney, at Harris Park in particular (affectionally known as ‘Little India’), locals are planning to undertake smaller celebrations - but that certainly hasn’t diminished their enthusiasm. My warmest wishes for a joyous, peaceful and colourful Holi.

15.01.2022 Enjoy the fun and a loving family time on this special day! Happy Father’s Day, folks!!

07.01.2022 It was a matter of immense satisfaction to work with NSW Government, Multicultural NSW, NSW Police and our community during the last weekend (after a violent br...awl in Harris Park) to put down (to do my bit) the tension and confrontation between two groups in the community. To deal with this potential threat to the peace and harmony in the community, I recommended to the Govt to organize an urgent community meeting, culminating in a Zoom meeting involving community leaders, Minister Geoff Lee, NSW Police, Multicultural NSW (MNSW) Chair and CEO of MNSW. At the request of the government, I assisted them with the names of key members of the community for the community Zoom meeting. I gave quite a bit of time during the weekend to collect and forward relevant provocative videos to Govt operatives. I spent time in collecting names, phone numbers and the emails of key leaders from Hindu and Sikh communities (including Gurdwaras) to assist the Government. We were informed by Assistant Police Commissioner, Peter McKenna, today that two people from the brawl have been charged and arrested. Assistant Police Commissioner made it very clear that it’s a crime to abuse (hate messaging) anybody based on the victim’s race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender etc. The undesirable trend in the social media to abuse (hate messaging) people’s faith and nationality would hopefully stop. There will be consequences if people indulge in hate crimes, threaten violence or incite violence. I am happy to report that everyone from every walk of our community, including those who were in the meeting, has condemned this unacceptable violent brawl, which tarnished the good image of our community. I salute the contribution of our community for rising to the challenge and condemning the ugly and unacceptable violence unitedly. I am very happy that I was able to do something in the service of our community. Sat Sri Akal and Namaste. Multicultural NSW See more
