20.01.2022 We attended a Rural Fire Services community meeting at Kulnura hall yesterday to hear more about the Gospers Mountain fire & it's predicted path. The RFS beli...eve that the fire will hit the Central Coast at some point, but they don't know where & they don't know when. It could be within a week, it could take a month. It all comes down to weather. The area they are monitoring is from Gunderman in the south to Bucketty in the north - a 70 km stretch. The RFS crews are doing the most amazing job - on the ground, with the Fires Near Me app & with their social media. We are in preparation mode. Removing fuel load from around the house, getting animals prepped, talking & planning. The firies advised us to work together as a community against this fire. They also said that anywhere that has leaves & ash falling is susceptible to a bushfire - so make sure your place is ready too. Hopefully we will be at Avoca Beach Farmers Market on Wednesday from 4-6pm. If you want to do something to help us, please come down & buy produce from us. The farm is our only income & it looks like we are going to have to postpone our upcoming tours & workshops (ie income). We still have costs during this time to pay out & we are working longer hours than normal getting the farm ready. If we could move a whole lot of produce it would be wonderful, from an income perspective & it would mean we would have less inventory here on the farm to worry about. Keep watching our social media. If anything changes & we can't make it to the markets we will let you know. We have already had messages of support from our customers & we are so grateful for this wonderful community - built around food & regenerative farming. 11.01.2022 Today is sadly the end of our days at the Wednesday bowling club market and veggie boxes. Dylan and myself have decided to specialise our production into salad greens and a few select vegetables and herbs. It’s been 2 years since I started selling veggie boxes out of my parents garage. They were $12 and included tomatoes, zucchini, zucchini flowers, radish, oak lettuce and basil. This later progressed to a market @likeminds...avoca on a Thursday afternoon and that evolved again into the @avocabeachfarmersmarket. It’s been a positive experience and I’m very appreciative of the people that I’ve been involved with throughout. I’d like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported the business and your consistent kind words. This isn’t the end of the farm journey for Dylan and myself, and it will be possible to order our vegetables through @nurtured_earth_organics. Additionally @littlefeetgourmet will be at the Avoca markets with their fantastic stuff. All the best until we meet again, Kieran. See more
