24.01.2022 Good Morning The latest analysis from AMP Capital’s Dr Shane Oliver on the US Election Outcome and the implication for Australian Investors Joe Biden on track to become US president - implications for investors and Australia... Shane Oliver, Head of Investment Strategy and Chief Economist The attached note looks at the US election and its implications. The key points are as follows: The US election has been close and final counting as well as legal challenges could still upset the result, but the now highly likely outcome is a Biden Presidency. Major US TV networks and Associated Press have called the result in Biden’s favour and he has claimed victory as it looks highly likely he will secure at least the 270 electoral college votes required to win and possibly 306. While there is a possibility that the Democrats could win control of the Senate via runoff elections in Georgia, the most likely outcome is that Democrats will retain control of the House with Republicans retaining the Senate. This is likely to mean Biden’s proposed tax hikes won’t pass the Senate but that there will still be some extra fiscal stimulus and that trade wars will be toned down. This combination should be slightly more positive for Australian shares and the Australian dollar relative to US shares and the US dollar. Historically US shares have performed best under a Democrat President but a divided Congress. Please refer to link below:

21.01.2022 Biden versus Trump - the US presidential election is looming as the next big event for investors by Shane Oliver, Head of Investment Strategy and Chief Economist The attached note updates our analysis of the November 3rd US election. ... The key points are as follows: The US election has significant potential to add to volatility in investment markets. A Trump victory will mean more of the same and would likely initially be more positive for US than global and Australian shares. By contrast a Biden victory may add to short-term volatility but this is likely to be short lived as there is no reason to expect a weaker economy and hence share market under a Biden presidency and he is likely to take a less disruptive approach to trade and foreign policy. 03.01.2022 Shane Oliver, Head of Investment Strategy and Chief Economist The attached note reviews the Australian 2020-21 Federal Budget. The key points are as follows: The Government now expects the Federal budget deficit to peak at a record $213.7bn this financial year. That's around 11% of GDP, its highest since the end of WW2. The risk is the deficit will be worse at around $230bn.... Key measures include earlier tax cuts, massive tax breaks for investment & a new wage subsidy scheme. Providing more stimulus & holding off on budget repair are the right thing to do. But it will be a long hard slog to get the deficit back down and stabilise public debt. https://www.ampcapital.com//october/the-2020-21-australian Warm Regards Greg Woods B.Sc, SA Fin, AFP Financial Planner Authorised Representative 277359 Credit Rep 507565
