09.01.2022 Anzac Day tips for the younger generation... 1: REMEMBER THE DAY. This isn't your Boozer, this isn't your 21st birthday, this isn't your bucks night. Don't be a dickhead. Don't rock up to your Dawn service in a Purple suit, don't bring your Mrs if she's going to wear a skin tight dress that lets everyone see what she had for breakfast. It's a day of Rememberance, whether it be our forefathers from all the conflicts before, or our brothers who gave their life in the recent con...flict. It's a day for them, not us. 2: Mates don't let mates drink alone. Stay with your mates. Too many times I've seen a Digger sitting alone in a gutter all suited up, with no friends in sight. That shit is not on. It's an emotional day for some, and there's no way any of us need to do it alone. You never know how much they might need it. The only person who might be drinking alone is that Old Dig down at the RSL, which leads onto... 3: Buy an old Digger a beer. Let them talk your ear off, more than likely they'll want to hear about your life. Talk smack with them, have a few beers. It'll probably make their whole week. 4: We're all on the same side: Army, Air Force, Navy, old school, junior, we're all on the same team. Anzac Day is about them all. Don't be running your mouth at someone just because their Aussie flag is a different colour. At the end of the Day, we all signed the blank cheque. 5: Have a good time. Enjoy yourself, catch up with a mate who you haven't seen in a while. Go to the Dawn Service in your driveway. Have a Gunfire Breakfast. Play two up. Message a mate who you haven't seen in a while. Go out in your best looking Lowes suit. Enjoy all of our Traditions, old and New. Enjoy a cold VB or two and watch the mighty Manly smash the Tigers Please feel free to share... Enjoy your day and most of all "respect" those who have sacrificed their time and lives for us all. RIP The great man Private Henry George Fien - thank you for our freedom we have today See more

09.01.2022 I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following: 1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself. 2 I have realized that I am not Atlas. The world does not rest on my shoulders.... 3 I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees. 4 I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am. 5 I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past. 6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection. 7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You. 8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances. 9 I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do. 10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race. 11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human. 12 I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone. 13 I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last. 14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be! I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age? I borrowed this. I don't know who to credit it to, but thank you!

06.01.2022 I suffer from massive anxiety and depression and I do get embarrassed. It's not a good place to be in. People don't believe me when I tell them because I am always happy and laughing around them and try to make others laugh. At times I do struggle. I can be hard to live with or to be around when I get this way and I know it. I try my best to control it and most of the time I succeed. I manage to get on top of it and control things but at times I break. So if you see me and I ...am quiet or don't speak, I'm not upset with you nor have you upset me, I also do not mean to be rude, I may just need a minute to myself or a hug. So please if you are my friend just bear with me It's ok to not be ok, tell someone you're not ok. It's ok. Everyone says: "If you need anything, don't hesitate, I'll be there for you"... So I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic, I wish my friends that you will put this on your wall. You just have to copy (not share)!!! I want to know who I can count on... And I'm sure it will be less than 25 Write "done" in comments when you do! It's Mental Illness Awareness Month #itsnotweaktospeak #itsokaynottobeokay

05.01.2022 Charles, a new retiree-greeter at Wal-Mart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time. Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies. One day the boss called him into the office for a talk. "Charles, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang-up job when you finally get here, but your being late so ofte...n is quite bothersome." "Yes sir, I know, and I am working on it." "Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear. Yes sir, I understand your concern and I’ll try harder. Seeming puzzled, the manager went on to comment, It's odd though you're coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say to you there if you showed up in the morning so late and so often?" The old man looked down at the floor, then smiled. He chuckled quietly, then said with a grin, "They usually saluted and said: "Good morning General, can I get your coffee sir?"
