20.01.2022 Babies and young children cant always express when they are upset or explain what is worrying them. So it helps to know how they send messages or certain cues.... 20.01.2022 The COVID-19 spike in Victoria and new lockdown orders are hurting early childhood and OSHC services. Yesterday, Education Minister Dan Tehan responded to our a...sk to waive gap fees for services in areas subject to Stage 3 restrictions. Were also calling on the government to pay the difference for children who dont attend. There are many issues that still need to be ironed out, including: How services can survive on potentially 65% of their regular income The pressure to waive fees for families Funding required for the extra week of vacation care in Victoria A clear process for notifications with DHHS if a service is required to close because of COVID-19 Whether the CCCF can open up to support service sustainability once free childcare ends this week. We want to see these issues addressed quickly, and are in discussion with both the state and Commonwealth governments. Got a concern you want brought to the right people? Let us know below

19.01.2022 This is an appalling omission from the Federal Government and leaves tens of thousands of educators in Victoria facing an uncertain future. Its great that to...day Dan Tehan recognised early educators as the unsung heroes of this pandemic, but these are empty words when he will not guarantee they are paid for the next six weeks. United Workers Union is calling on Minister Tehan to guarantee educators wages by strengthening the employment guarantee provisions in the transitional funding. -United Workers Union ECEC Director Helen Gibbons Read the full United Workers Union statement here: www.unitedworkers.org.au/federal-government-announcement-ha

15.01.2022 Hello again to all the families of the centre, I hope this post finds you all well. Just a small snap into some of the meals provide throughout this last week My aim when I meal plan and prep is to ensure the children eat 4-5 different fruits/vegetable daily and it tastes good while doing so... I am not a fan of food going to waste and not much comes back to the kitchen Winning.... Hope you all stay safe, until next week. Ka kite ano (goodbye again in Mori)

11.01.2022 "Let kindness begin with us, and let us change the world." - Meredith Gaston Council has worked with Dandenong Primary School to share a message of harmony and ...kindness that is particularly timely given world events related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Council is incredibly proud of the way the Greater Dandenong community has pulled together in the face of the global health crisis and we encourage everyone to Find the Kind in their everyday life. 11.01.2022 4th of August.Aboriginal Childrens Day @ Fifth Avenue Child Care and Kindergarten Service

08.01.2022 Hello to all the families of the centre. I hope this post finds everyone well. In case some may have missed it, there is a new board next to the sign in kiosk, which displays what the children will be having for lunch and afternoon tea that day When meal planning, within a 2 week period there needs to be 4 red meat meals, 2 poultry, 2 fish and 2 vegetarian meals to provide variety... Curry is a loved favourite amongst the children. I make 2 different kinds. I make a chicken curry (the meat can easily be switched for another) and a chickpea curry. Plenty of smiling yellow faces on a curry day Please feel free to email [email protected] if you would like to make meal suggestions or for any recipes

04.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A CHILD ENROLLED IN CHILD CARE: Whether youve lost your job or are keeping your child home to prevent the spread of cor...onavirus, please dont un-enrol your child. If youve lost your job or are working reduced hours, theres financial support you can access. Please dont just pull your child out of care. To access financial support, log on to MyGov and apply for temporary financial hardship (see below screenshot). This means the government may pay your childcare fees IN FULL for 13 weeks. If youre choosing to keep your child home, the government has extended the number of allowable absences that can be covered by the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). This may support you to keep your child home and still receive the CCS. Remember, keeping your child enrolled will help your child care service to continue paying educators. It will also ensure that your child care service doesnt go bankrupt and that you can return to work when our economy is ready to get back on track.
