25.01.2022 Welcome to the Think Tank set up to Brain Storm the next 50 Years in our great Country. Australia! :)
22.01.2022 Xmas day 2019 has passed and we are about to enter 2020. For those of us born in the 50's&60's we remember vividly what the drive up through Inland NSW & Southern QLD was like. You see back then, if we were lucky, (although it became a ritual) our parents would load us up in the old Hilman and Dad would drive for a thousand years, or so it seemed, till we got to the NSW/QLD Border to spend a magical time over our Xmas School Holidays. I remember staying in the old "Paddle Whe...el" Motel on the Currumbin river in about 1971. We had plenty to do, swimming/fishing/exploring etc etc. Whilst I could go on and on about simpler times, this is not what this Page is about! I write the above because the one thing that stood out from my memory was the amazing inland rivers and the colour of the Murray Darling Basin lands. Its not rocket science that we need somebody in Government, with the courage and to be prepared for the political suicide, by strongly advocating and "Pushing" for a "Bradfield" type scheme to get pipelines flowing from high up down through the inland basin again. We could use the Army engineers and staff to help with this, it would create thousands of jobs over a few decades, Indigenous leaders would surely welcome a fertile inland which would once again make it viable and richly rewarding for Australian Farmers and our regional population. Are the Governments of today, be it Labor or Liberal, trying to herd us all into the densely populated cities? "Fifty Year Plan" believes step one should be rigorous debate on the inland pipeline scheme and make it happen. Once this movement gains popular support, and enough people comment & commit, Governments will be forced to listen and implement plans for a sustainable inland Australia. Sensible Fire Management and Regional Road infrastructure are also High on our list. :) See more
16.01.2022 This is where you all get to submit Ideas for us to include in our 50 year Master Plan, to help convince Politicians, and even end up writing a policy, that whomever is in Government must adhere to! We plan to work hard to have the numbers and support of ordinary Australians who want better infrastructure in a long term 50 year "Master" plan for our Roads/Water/Fire Plan. Nutcase ideas will not be contemplated or tabled, and if you think the orange bellied parrot is worth more than a human life...this group is NOT for you :)
03.01.2022 Unbelievable, what a waste, lets now "future-Proof" the Murray/Darling basin!
02.01.2022 Our first contributions are around the need for a pipe-line to bring water from the Burdekin/thompson/Mitchell and associated catchments down through inland QLD & NSW to revitalise the Murray Darling basin and bring the farming community back to life. It will take time but must be considered one of Australia's biggest challenges. A pipe line has been mooted since the early 1900's and a chap named Dr John Bradfield had most of it planned in the 30's. Thoughts & comments & advice sought now.
