25.01.2022 Today we saw a 9mtr high tide and a 1.46mtr low tide. We even came across a beached sea snake on our walk. Gotta love Broome, every day gives you something different

25.01.2022 Back in Broome - can't get enough of this place. Last night's sunset was spectacular with smoke from a nearby fire creating magic colours.

24.01.2022 Cable Beach at low tide. The difference is amazing

24.01.2022 In a year that has been difficult and challenging for most I feel extremely grateful for all that I have done and seen, 2020 has been a ride that I will never forget! I would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. And may 2021 bring an abundance of health, happiness and lots of travel for everyone.

23.01.2022 Stormy Night in Scarborough makes for magical skies

22.01.2022 Cable Beach at high tide

22.01.2022 Happy Wednesday We came across a Turtle Crab while walking yesterday. The colours are amazing

22.01.2022 A glimpse of a blowhole in action at Quobba. This is a close as I dared to go

22.01.2022 First night at Bullara. Burgers for the masses and entertainment from a Freo boy, Noah Young. Great start

21.01.2022 Bullara, though a great experience, got the better of me with the wind. We had a wonderful time but left early because of 35-50km winds, worried that the tent would be demolished. We have spent the last 2 days travelling back to Broome because we have been offered an opportunity that couldn't be refused. While in Broome on our 1st visit (this is our 3rd) we met a lovely couple, that we now call friends, who offered us a house to live in for 3 months. So here we are, lookin...g forward to sitting still in Broome and living through our first wet season. We are very grateful for the opportunity and for new friends. When the wet season arrives there will be a plethora of photo opportunities that I can't wait to share. Here are a few final photos of Bullara. See more

20.01.2022 'Fifty Plus On The Road' is evolving so it was time for a new logo. And I love it! Thank you Jade for the design xx

20.01.2022 Happy New Year! So after all the stories of camping, it's now time to share more about the places we visited. And our first stop was Quobba Station Homestead. I hope you enjoy!

20.01.2022 Update on stay at Lake Argyle. This is tonight's sleeping arrangement due to winds once again getting the better of the tent poles At least we get to look at the stars from inside the tent Must remember to wear clothes to bed as all passers by can see through. This poor tent didn't stand a chance after strong winds at Quobba and now 50km gusts here. We are now going to limp back to Broome to find another tent - one that is wind tested!!

19.01.2022 We left Lake Argyle yesterday, tails between our legs, passing the places we were going to visit Stayed at Mary Pool where we were not disappointed with the view and had interesting neighbours. The tent held up there, reinforced with duct tape, although the wind test is yet to be seen. Arrived today in Broome and set up the wounded tent, repaired but future yet to be decided(more on that later). I went shopping to top up supplies at the local supermarket while Phil relaxed after set up, only to be run into by a local. We now have to decide on whether to get the car repaired in Broome or when we get home.

19.01.2022 Tom Price local dropped in for a snack

18.01.2022 This morning we explored Roebuck Bay at sunrise. On 3rd March 1942, 6 allied planes were bombed by the Japanese here, and the wrecks still sit at the bottom of the ocean. The only time they become visible is at extremely low tides and this morning was one of the few. It's a long walk out to them, but well worth the effort. You even get to see some of the ocean life that is left waiting for the tide to come back in.

16.01.2022 The beach is a canvas and the ocean tides paint a different picture every day for us to marvel at. No 2 days are the same and you never know what you are going to find when you walk the beach each day. And this is what keeps me coming back.

15.01.2022 Lake Argyle is in the far north of Western Australia and is a Must Do & See! It is the largest manmade lake in the Southern Hemisphere with beautiful scenery. Here are some of the things you can do when visiting Lake Argyle

14.01.2022 Swimming With Whale Sharks Amazing! All Photos thanks to 3 Islands Whale Shark Dive A Bucket List Item As a Victorian who arrived in Western Australia in 2012 I had no idea what a Whale Shark was let alone want to swim with one. To me all sharks were dangerous and not something that you wanted to swim with unless you were either a thrill seeker or just plain crazy! 14.01.2022 Today's adventure! Visited the Malcolm Douglas Crocodile Park. All Phil wanted was to see a Saltie and he wasn't disappointed

13.01.2022 A weekend in Karijini exploring a few gorges. An amazing place with spectacular views that is 2500 million years in the making. And we got to share it with good friends. For all of us there were challenges conquered.

12.01.2022 You know how I like a sunset. Well we did a sunset cruise on Lake Argyle tonight. OMG!!! AMAZING!! We saw some local bird life, a crocodile or 10 laying on the shore and fed some wallaroos on their own little island. Then we swam while sipping on an alcoholic bev of choice (sorry no pics, we were too busy floating on a noodle ). The sunset and the glassed off lake made for spectacular views. I hope the photos can give you some idea of the beauty which we were privileged to see.

11.01.2022 Our office today

11.01.2022 Hey Friends, Here is the final installment of Fifty Plus in a tent. I hope you enjoy! Coming soon will be more about the places we visited while travelling through North West WA, the things to do and see in this beautiful state.

09.01.2022 Left Barn Hill Station today and are now on our way to Indee Station for one night before spending the weekend in Karijini. Barn Hill was a great place with ocean swimming, beautiful scenery and a very friendly atmosphere. There are lots of activities organised by Management and we were there for Tai Chi every morning, scroungers bowls on Tuesday night and a BBQ on Wednesday with all guests welcome. Such a friendly place and the facilities are unique with outdoor, unisex a...menities. I even had a visit in the toilet from a green frog who had found a very comfortable place in the toilet roll and came out on my arm as I pulled on the roll. Not sure who was more surprised, me or the frog when I screamed Totally recommend Barn Hill Station!! See more

09.01.2022 OK folks, I need your help. The jury is hung on whether we need a new tent. Facts 1. The tents fibreglass poles have broken twice in strong winds ... 2. Current poles have been repaired with duct tape and work well without wind (so far) 3. We are moving from Broome toward Karijini, Kalbarri and Horricks with a station stay at Barn Hill. Question Will the tent hold up as is or should we look at a new tent before we leave Broome?

06.01.2022 Arrived at Barn Hill Station yesterday. Very interesting place with lots of interactive activities and animals. Went for a walk along the beach this morning. What a beautiful spot with stunning landscape.

06.01.2022 A perfect night in Scarborough

04.01.2022 Sunset at Gantheaume Point - Amazing! Something we hadn't yet done and on the spur of the moment.

02.01.2022 Today was a day of meeting the locals. First was the goats and emu. Then Scratchy the bull with his girls decided to visit and the horses wandered through. The resident sheep are always around and Charlie the Bush Turkey came in for a visit. We also visited Coral Bay where I snorkelled and was followed by the very friendly Snapper. A good day all round.

02.01.2022 A few days in Tom Price and we are now at Bullara Station, 65kms from Coral Bay and 86km from Exmouth. A very quirky Station stay with lots of photo opportunities to come. I've once again been reminded this week how fragile life is and I'm feeling very grateful for every day that we have on our adventure. Stay safe my friends and hold your loved ones close.

02.01.2022 We were in Broome for the Shinju Matsuri festival. Broome's annual festival to recognise it's history and blended cultures. A couple of events we saw were the lighting of the lanterns on Gantheame Point and the final night of celebrations at Cable Beach. Such a special time for the locals and very interesting to watch.

01.01.2022 A quote from Buddha to take you into the weekend. If you believe it you can achieve it!
