19.01.2022 Our final film of the festival is 'Bellbird', screening tonight at 7pm. This beautiful New Zealand, film explores life after loss for a dairy farmer and his son, who must find a way to reconnect and move forward together.

19.01.2022 A very special afternoon is coming up with the screening of 'The Australian Dream' at 3pm, followed by a yarn and coffee over the road at Colombo's Cafe from 4:30pm. Big thanks to Steve and Cindy for their support.

16.01.2022 The second reason for us to be fundraising is to support BMDI Rotary House, an amazing accommodation center. Situated in North Melbourne, BMDI Rotary House is close to Melbourne’s major treating hospitals including The Royal Melbourne Hospital, The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the Royal Children’s Hospital. BMDI Rotary House aims to provide a venue for families of all ages. Within the building there are 13 fully self-contained one and two bedroom apartments. Each... apartment is equipped with all the items needed to make the stay for visiting families more comfortable. The building’s amenities also include a communal lounge, gym, library, children’s playroom and teen retreat. Your support contributes directly to the ongoing cost of this facility and ensuring for those who have had to leave their homes and communities for their cancer treatment, that they will have a space, privacy and a continued connection with their families outside the hospital ward. 14.01.2022 Our fourth and final film to be featured in this year's festival will be Bellbird. A beautiful comedy, drama from New Zealand. Ross (Marshall Napier) has farmed the land all his life, just as his father and grandfather did before him. A largely silent man, Ross farms the land alongside his far more exuberant wife Beth (Annie Whittle), who is an eager participant in the local choir and a friend to many. When Beth suddenly dies, Ross is crushed but incapable of displaying his emotions. His son Bruce (Cohen Holloway) moves back in and tries to help, but is not suited to the farming life and also has great difficulties in expressing himself. Around them, their friends realise the difficulties, and pitch in to help. Bellbird will be screened on Saturday 9th of November at 7pm at Showbiz Cinemas Swan Hill.

14.01.2022 Our Group President Steve sat down with Trent from Swan Hill Savers to talk all things film festival, which is coming up on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th of November. Get your tickets at Showbiz Cinema Swan Hill. Thanks Trent.

13.01.2022 Now that you know about WHAT we are doing, let me tell you a little about WHY we are fundraising. Every year, more than 950 children and young people aged 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer in Australia. Young learners with cancer are absent from school for long periods during their treatment and recovery. Making sure these young learners stay engaged with their education while they receive treatment for cancer is one of the fundamental ways Fight Cancer Foundation helps reduce ...the long term impact of cancer. Through a mix of face-to-face and online learning sessions with students on the wards and in outpatient clinics, our education support programs help students get their lives back on track as soon as possible. Our education support programs enable learners to maintain their education and connection with their school and school friends. They are also supported by a flexible, individual education program that works around their illness and treatment, allowing them to resume their lives as quickly as possible. By supporting this event, you are supporting the "Back on Track' education program and we thank you for that. See more

11.01.2022 'The Farewell' will make you laugh and cry, so bring the tissues with you this morning. With themes of grief, closure, tradition and respect all within the settings of a contemporary family, it's going to be an emotional rolla coater. Screening at 10:30am at Showbiz Cinemas Swan Hill.

10.01.2022 We've laugh and cryed our way through Summerland this morning and now Corpus Christi is challenging our concept of judgement and forgiveness, second chances and mistaken identity. Our final film of this year's festival, screening this evening is The Bee Gees, how can you mend a broken heart. Put on your favourite 60s & 70s outfit and relive the days of disco with us at 7pm. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3637540306291740

09.01.2022 That a wrap! The Swan Hill Film Festival is now done and dusted for another year. Thanks to all those who came along and supported our film festival. We have been delighted with the attendances at each of the films and hope you all had an enjoyable time. To those who filled in the evaluation forms, your comments are appreciated and your positive feed back is very encouraging. Of course these events just could not happen without great partnerships, so we would like to thank Showbiz Cinemas Swan Hill, Swan Hill Rural City and Colombo's Cafe and Pasta Bar.

09.01.2022 Our third film to be featured in this year's festival will be The Farwell. This beautiful film follows a Chinese family who, when they discover their beloved matriarch has only a short while left to live, decide to keep her in the dark and schedule an impromptu wedding to gather before she passes. The Farewell will be screened on Saturday 9th of November at 10:30am at Showbiz Cinemas Swan Hill.

09.01.2022 Wow! What an incredible way to start the film festival tonight with High Ground. There is another action packed day in store tomorrow, beginning with the beautiful English film Summerland at 10:30am. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=397477261210662

09.01.2022 Season Greetings. Like many at this time of the year, our members are off spending quality time with family and friends but we will be returning in February for our AGM and then to get the ball rolling on another year of great films.

05.01.2022 Second film announcement! The Australian Dream. From shy country kid to two-time Brownlow medallist and Australian of the Year, Adam Goodes is an inspiration to many. The footy field was where he thrived; the only place where the colour of his skin was irrelevant. Goodes’ world fell apart when he became the target of racial abuse during a game, which spiralled into public backlash against him. He spoke out about racism when Australia was not ready to hear the ugly truth, ret...iring quietly from AFL heartbroken. The Australian Dream is something people reach for and many people obtain, but there’s an emptiness at the heart of it because Australia has not resolved the questions of its history. If the Australian Dream is rooted in racism, what can be done to redefine it for the next generation? Screening at the Showbiz Cinemas Swan Hill, 3pm Saturday 9th November 2019.

03.01.2022 You might have noticed that we have had a name change. It was agreed by our members at our 2020 AMG that our group's name would change to reflect the corporate re-branding that has taken place across the Fight Cancer Foundation over recent years. So what does that mean? Our events in the Swan Hill District will continue, raising awareness and funds for the same cause however you will see different logos at our future events. Please know that it's still just us, regular people from your community.

02.01.2022 Competition time! We are giving away a double pass to one of our festival films. For your chance to win, please like our page and tag 3 of your friends. The lucky winner will be contacted prior to the festival, once all the films have been announced, to make their viewing selection. Good luck!
