10.01.2022 TAKE-AWAY ONLY FRENCH ISLAND GENERAL STORE / CAFÉ Due to the Government's directive regarding café’s we are limiting our services and taking measures during this time. We are only offering take away food as of today. There are no group bookings being taken during this time, no dine-in available, and no courtesy bus for visitors. ... We apologise to Tourists however we will not be providing any courtesy bus transfers during this time - so no more courtesy bus on weekends or public holidays from the jetty until further notice. We are located a 3km walk from the ferry terminal, that's approximately a 35 minute walk. We continue to offer our hours as usual - just with changes to procedures. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our employees, our families and locals during this time. So we have reduced to phone orders / take away food only, our groceries are reserved for locals & FIGS Cottage guests only and daily limits are in place... Sending well wishes to everyone. For now, if you live in Regional Victoria come for a day trip!! Catch the ferry from Stony Point or Cowes..or Barge from Corinella. Dine-in or outside... sight see... cycle around.. see the koalas... enjoy a peaceful day out exploring. While we have no courtesy bus... there is the 3km walk, if you come by ferry....if you're ...up for it come for a day out!!! 04.01.2022 A message from French Island We'd like to thank everyone for their calls, messages and well wishes since the fires we experienced on French Island last weekend. Thankfully everyone is safe and well. Our sincere thanks to all of those who fought the fires, and to those who gave their support to the island. French Island is back to business as usual now and we hope to see you again soon!

03.01.2022 We’ve been working with our conservation partners to create a plan for the recovery of the Critically Endangered Eastern Barred Bandicoot. Once widespread acro...ss the grassy woodlands of western Victoria and South Australia, by 1988 only 200 were thought to be left in the wild, making this little bandicoot one of Australia’s most endangered species. Since 1991 Zoos Victoria has bred more than 650 bandicoots, with two successful releases on protected sites including Churchill Island and Phillip Island. We’re now getting ready for our biggest and final release onto French Island. Stay tuned.
