24.01.2022 A very informative presentation. Tells about the condition, the Chinese response which is so necessary to understand, and more. A bit long but worth the time. Vijay Kapadia

23.01.2022 A Unique Honour: Visit by the Prime Minister of Fiji the Hon Frank Bainimarama

21.01.2022 The basics are always simple and can be so effective. Would have been great if many world leaders had the vision of this Italian village. Vijay Kapadia

20.01.2022 The Prime Minister of Fiji, Josaia Voreqe (Frank) Bainimarama visited the charity cath lab at CWM hospital last week. The CWM cath lab provides first class cardiac services to the disadvantaged people in Fiji (and surrounding countries).

09.01.2022 I was fortunate to spend time in China recently attending and speaking in Beijing at their largest interventional cardiology meeting, and then visiting major ho...spitals in four different cities. I was amazed by the very high standards and outstanding ability of the Chinese cardiologists I met. Their excellence was only equalled by their humility and their desire to help. We will never forget the affection and sincerity of the wonderful people we met everywhere we went. I hope the contacts and links created by my visit to China will help to create new initiatives to improve heart and health care in Fiji and the Pacific. See more

08.01.2022 Posted by Pri Allen (my daughter) One of the great things in emergency response and for anyone involved in emergency response will know this. If you need to be RIGHT before you move YOU WILL NEVER WIN. Perfection is the enemy of the good when it comes to emergency management. Speed trumps perfection. And the problem with society we have at the moment is everyone is afraid of making a mistake. Everyone is afraid of the consequence of error. But the greatest error is not to m...ove. The greatest error is to be paralyzed by the fear of failure. Dr Mike Ryan Head of WHO’s Emergencies Program. In Australia, the government has fuelled the school closure argument and other issues surrounding the implementation of other aggressive measures with their economic rhetoric. Convincing evidence based data on what school closure did or didn’t do for countries (controlling for other factors and variables in each country) is not going to be available till after the pandemic is well and truly over. Whether to halt the economy now with the corresponding healthcare burden/cost compared to halting the economy 2 weeks from now - again the answer to these questions will only be available after the pandemic is over. We can’t be perfectionists right now. We don’t have time. We have to act. Social isolation does work but only if it is implemented in all aspects of society. I’m baffled that people talk about children like they are separate to the rest of the human species. When infected, they pose a risk to those around them just as much as an adult would. What about our teachers? What about the parents of children who may be high risk? As an Australian currently living in Canada I’m not going to glorify the Canadian response. Because I do believe that much of the world is playing catchup. Canada is hitting the slope of its curve too. The Chief Public Health Officer here doesn’t want to just flatten the curve, she wants to PLANK IT. Aggressive measures have been implemented. No one is complaining about school, daycare or business closures. People see it as a hard fact of life. People see this as living through a war. There is social distancing in supermarkets and public places which are required to be open.. And all Canadians feel that things will probably be like this for a while. There a general awareness of the gravity of the situation we are facing. There is a desire to do what’s right for the entire community. SPEAK UP AUSTRALIA There is still time to flatten your curve See more

06.01.2022 China acted decisively with a leadership that understood how grave the situation was and saw the urgent need for action. We fumbled in the West and are waking up to a nightmare. One Wuhan was enough.

03.01.2022 The cath lab has now been updated with the latest software available for this version of the hardware. This equipment is on par with many other cath labs in first class cardiac centres in the rest of the world. It complies with all international regulations for electrical, mechanical, radiation and hygiene safety.... And we're happy to keep it that way. As usually its been a real pleasure visiting Suva and CWM hospital.
