11.01.2022 Through Partnerships for Recovery: Australia’s COVID-19 Development Response, the Australian Government is assisting partner countries in our region to respond to challenges presented by COVID-19. Australia’s flagship private sector engagement development program, the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP), is supporting the economic recovery pillar of Partnerships for Recovery. The private sector is an essential source of ingenuity, expertise and finance. The private sector ca...n also drive inclusive growth and create livelihood opportunities, enhance gender equality and support green and resilient economic recovery. By working in partnership, we can achieve long-term economic recovery, poverty reduction and sustainable growth to overcome the impacts of the pandemic. The Business Partnerships Platform Fiji Call for Partnerships is now open. The BPP will support partnerships between the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and inclusive businesses that deliver both development impacts and sustainable commercial outcomes to support COVID-19 economic recovery in Fiji. COVID-19 presents an opportunity for local business in-country, diaspora business owners, as well as Australian and international businesses to extend their interests in the region and diversify regional supply chains. In addition to the Fiji Call for Partnerships, the BPP Sri Lanka and COVID-19 Regional (Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Timor-Leste and Tonga) Call for Partnerships are currently active. The Samoa BPP Call for Partnerships has now closed. For partnerships in Fiji, we are interested in hearing from business that want to create both sustainable commercial returns and development impacts particularly in relation to women’s economic empowerment, in the following areas: digital and e-commerce platforms that promote commercial opportunities and enable the increased participation of women as consumers, suppliers or producers. We are particularly interested in ideas that provide business linkages and positive impacts for women in the informal sector; and firms offering business services (B2B) that can create new jobs or upskilling opportunities for women. More information on the BPP Fiji Call for Partnerships can be found here: https://thebpp.com.au/call-/bpp-fiji-call-for-partnerships/. Applications close soon - on 8 December 2020. Online information sessions for prospective applicants will be held on 11 November and I would encourage interested businesses to register on the website. I invite you to share this opportunity with your networks of interested businesses. Attached is a brochure with further information on the BPP and I would be grateful for your circulation to networks who would be interested in this opportunity. Queries on the Call for Partnerships can be directed to [email protected].
