25.01.2022 || HARDSCAPING || A huge effort by the @sorrentostone boys this week to setup up & pour this tricky, steep driveway - not only getting the transitions and levels right for the ultra-low sports cars eventually going into the 12 car undercroft garage, but incorporating insets in the driveway to start to bring in the details from the house design into the garden, functionally to slow the water speed as it falls down towards the garage drains and aesthetically to be a visual tre...at with the shadows coming off those large vertical columns during the day. 24.01.2022 Its been a huge month since Christmas at our Bull Creek job - three weeks of prep work has seen 120m3 of hot, dry sand out so far, Retic and lighting prelays in sand that can barely be trenched or barrowed over, 20m3 of compacted roadbase in by hand as sub-base prior to travertine BUT this past week getting the exposed aggregate poured and travertine going in makes all the prep work worth while. 20.01.2022 || FEATURES || Seeing two of the many feature pieces installed this week at our Sorrento job for @seacresthomes is such an incredible feeling. 32hrs in design; and only week into the install, the custom sculpture and laser cut screens by @rogetjames are dry fit, the enormous Dragon Tree from @distinctive_dragon_trees has found its new home and is looking incredible, the pre-lays are in and were ready for concrete next week.... A huge Thankyou to @altilighting for sourcing that incredible @flexalighting light for the sculpture and the @dtcindustries boys for the electrical wireup. 15.01.2022 With hardscaping finished off weve been busy this last fortnight prepping the site getting ready for trees, feature plants and general planting. Over 20m3 of some of the worst sand weve seen has come out of the garden beds - dug and wheelbarrowed by hand due to very tight access - getting ready for all the soil conditioning going in. While tedious and backbreaking, its a vital stage of preparation prior to planting and lawn installation. 13.01.2022 Congratulations to our Spring Competition winner Mark Lancaster. As you can see, his lawn is in dire need of a little bit of TLC. Today we went out and met with Mark and ran through the application process, applied our fantastic slow release lawn fertiliser suited to damaged turf requiring extra nutrients to establish root development and growth, then wet it in with @betta_turf s fantastic IronMan foliar feed to get an instant green up within 24 hours. 09.01.2022 A huge drive by all our boys this week to get the prelays dropped & brickwork up before Perths weather turned sour. Well have to wait at least a week until the rain clears before we can start rendering and texture coating - but its great to see the client see their front courtyard shape up and why all the hours and $ designing, preparing & setting out was worth it. From the initial consultation we discussed a front boundary wall and sunken courtyard with the client, as ...the current battering down to the house was going to cause huge issues with sand retention and drainage but also be a completely unusable space. We drew up the Landscape Concept Plan, had the front boundary wall engineer certified, sent it off for DA&BA approval and started on rear hardscaping while we waited for shire approvals. 09.01.2022 I had so much fun designing this playful space for a beautiful young family that have recently finished a major reno & extension on the existing house and wanted to create a fun, functional outdoor room with seperate areas for the small kids, big kids and the adults while fitting in a Gorilla Plus from @funkymonkeybars with an emphasis on play equipment that can grow with the kids. Being able to also incorporate an outdoor movie theatre for the teens, bar for the adults and h...idden vege garden for the family maximised every m2 of the spaces functionality while still looking great.
