If you’re like me and follow a plethora of fitness YouTubers, Instagrammers and whatever else - you’ll likely have heard of this one getting around.. I’m late to the party . Ingredients + method: -1 cup egg whites -1 tsp cinnamon -1 tbsp vanilla extract -2 small sweeteners >combine the above in a bowl and mix a little. >dip individual slices of bread in the mixture allowing it to soak up as much as possible BUT be sure to not let it get overly soggy (it will fall apart, but still edible ) and put into a pan on medium heat >cook for 3-5 mins until crispy outer layer is formed to your liking This one can also be meal prepped in advance, I’ve even seen people freezing the slices (after cooking once) and then using the toaster to both defrost and give it some crispness back, it’s genius. (The prep is straightforward just combine and cook) I chose to split 1kg of chicken breast into 5 servings (200g each) you can obviously adjust this for your liking. A typical 200g serving of plain chicken breast is an average of 325 calories. With this recipe you’re adding about 160 calories from the additional ingredients.. (compare that to real fried chicken!!..) Some things to consider: The bbq sauce selection could be replaced with a much lower calorie option, in America they have the sugar free version of the sauce I used which I can’t find here (can order online though). Essentially saving yourself 100 calories. 04.01.2022 Everyone around you knows you’re making changes to lose weight. 10am. You unpack two large wraps filled to capacity with salads and chicken. You added flavour from low calorie condiments options. Your co-workers comment: White bread, seriously? Everyone knows how bad that is for you, do you even understand how to diet?.... The wraps have filled your stomach and satisfied your hunger. You could eat a snack but decide to save it for later. You’ve only added 550 calories to your day. You get back to work. 12pm. You hear a few co-workers talking about what to get for lunch today. Starbucks has some healthy options they say. They only eat one wrap, chicken and lettuce is healthy, right?. Not realising it’s 500 calories with all the bacon and creamy sauce. They make it a point to say it’s healthier than yours because it’s a multigrain wrap too (although 1/2 the amount of food.) That’s washed down with coffee and a slice of banana bread as a reward for eating so healthy . Another 700 calories in 3minutes. You’re still satisfied from the two massive wraps earlier. 1pm. You microwave some fish & chips. It’s been seasoned deliciously, the potatoes cut into chips and air-fried. There’s 400g of potatoes + 200g of fish (yum) . It looks similar to it’s deep-fried counterpart yet only 500 calories. Another comment. How much oil is in that, and potatoes? too many carbs! They eat their third large handful of almonds within the past hour because it’s healthy. People say these things without any idea about calorie density. 4pm. you feel snackish. You eat yoghurt, popcorn and strawberries. Another 1/2kg of food for only 403 calories. Eating again I see, you know it’s all about portion control, right? someone says.
