23.01.2022 Bored during the lockdown? Take the time and set yourself up for financial success once this is over. Take the time and complete the Budget Planner. The data out is only as good as the data in. So if you show a surplus on the planner, but you dont have that money in your bank - then the data in isnt very accurate. Start again. https://moneysmart.gov.au/budgeting/budget-planner

18.01.2022 Self Employed & Sole Traders, the easiest budgeting tip ever. But some quick advice first, your Accountant, no matter who they are, is not special. You earn income doing your work, the Accountant legally deducts the expenses incurred with doing that work and you are left with a taxable income. (NPBT = net profit before tax). I am constantly amazed by people tell me how much they earn, then I see their tax returns and they explain they have a fabulous accountant who reduces t...heir income so they pay less tax. NO THEY DONT! They deduct the expenses it cost you to earn that money, that is all, they are not fabulous or clever. So, here is my fabulous tip to make budgetting better. Firstly, take out your last years tax return, that important document that tells you how your business is tracking, year upon year and find the gross income (the total amount you earned) Now find the NPBT (taxable/net income = the bit that ends up in your pocket.) Now divide the NPBT into the gross income. So as an example - if your gross turnover was $110,000 and your NPBT was $60,000. Divide $60k into $110k and you end up with 0.545%. So very simply, for every $100 you earn, $54 is yours and the rest goes to the ATO, BAS and expenses. A very simple process, but all of a sudden you now have a very basic budget to live to and avoid going into ATO DEBT or not having enough money to pay your bills. Youre welcome. See more

18.01.2022 Quote from the MFAA "Underinsurance is not a hypothetical or academic concept. It is a tragic and painful reality for individuals and families when an unfortunate crisis arises. Underinsurance is particularly relevant to younger families and first home buyers who tend to have high levels of debt relative to income, limited assets and savings." Have you discussed your insurance requirements recently?

03.01.2022 What to consider when buying off-the-plan? My first rule is pretty basic, if you need a home loan to pay for an Off-The Plan purchase, then you shouldnt sign an unconditional contract. Sure it is a purchase option that gives buyers a range of valuable advantages, like saving on price, the option to customise and stamp duty concessions. But splashing out on plans alone may not be the best choice for every buyer. Make sure you weigh up the pros and cons to buying off-the-plan...Continue reading
