02.01.2022 "...the Financial Services Council yesterday launched a report on innovation in #superannuation, in partnership with Tailored Superannuation Solutions. The report said a technology-driven tailored system could boost investment returns in low-fee #MySuper funds from an industry average of 3.5 per cent a year to 4.5 per cent. It would do this by investing according on a time to retirement basis, which would tailor investment strategy for disengaged members. A long-acknowled...ged shortcoming of the superannuation system is that it fails to promote engagement, the FSC report said. This has stifled competition and, in turn, innovation. The report found nearly 15 million Australians, out of a total 17 million with super, have not chosen an investment option for their savings. A recent survey by actuarial firm Mercer found only 35 per cent of fund executives thought technology was a top influencer of their fund. The report said GROW Super and the tech-focused Spaceship funds could shake up the market by forcing funds to reconsider their propositions..."
