19.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations.

19.01.2022 The Governments decision to remove credit protections for borrowers is astonishing. What are they thinking! Financial Counselling Australia have produced this joint media release with Choice, Consumer Action Law Centre and Financial Rights Legal Centre. Removing these protections puts Australians at major risk of gaining debt way over and above what is reasonable for them to afford based on their incomes. More debt does not solve the Economy of Australia, it just leads to the inevitable breakdown of individuals and families leaving them at risk of financial and emotional breakdown.

17.01.2022 As of today the Jobkeeper wage subsidies will change. Businesses still need to prove they have had a 30% drop in their GST turnover for the past 3 months up until September to be eligible. Staff who work 20 hours or more per week will be entitled to $1200 per fortnight and those working less then 20 hours will receive $750 per fortnight. Jobseeker changes have also changed with a reduction of $300 per fortnight in the Covid Supplement. If these changes affect your ability to meet your debts, there is help. 05.01.2022 This astounding proposal by Treasurer Josh Frydenburg, to loosen up the consumer protection laws and removing protections for the consumer. This law needs to go through Senate to be passed so we as many people as possible to make the message loud and clear that we do not want these changes to happen. Lets not go backwards to irresponsible lending practices, especially now with people already hurting in the COVID Crisis and Australia to have one of the worst recessions.

Thank you to #Lotterywest for the funding we received to support our regional and remote members to travel to Perth to attend and subsidy on registrations for some of our members.
