24.01.2022 What does a 14% gender pay gap mean for women in 2020? It means having to work an extra 59 days after the end of the financial year to catch-up with their male ...counterpart's income. For women of colour, women with a disability and gender diverse people, this gap is even wider. Rather than being distracted from this important issue during the Covid crisis, governments and employers should be doing even more to ensure that economic inequality is addressed we close the gender pay gap. Women have lost more working hours, are more likely to miss out on JobKeeper due to being in short-term casual employment and those in secure work are more likely to be on the frontline of this crisis - working in retail, health, aged care and education. We also know that women now working from home, are shouldering the lion's share of extra unpaid caring resposibilities. We must take action, now more than ever, to fight for women’s financial security and gender equality. #EPD2020

21.01.2022 How is this STILL happening in 2020?

21.01.2022 Punishing women further because of the actions of their abuser. For many women experiencing domestic abuse, this is the ONLY savings they have. They should not be forced to dip into them, creating more financial insecurity in later life. #ENOUGH

18.01.2022 This is fantastic. There has long been a belief that executives can’t job share, but why not? The more this becomes normal, the more opportunity for women to be involved in executive leadership.

16.01.2022 It’s 2020: women want fair pay, not granite bench tops. Women are overrepresented in some of the lowest paid professions, like health care, child care, and ag...ed care. Raising the minimum wage would go a long way to addressing the gender pay gap. To a government that cancelled free childcare, and failed to acknowledge, let alone rectify, the disproportionate impact of COVID on women, I say: the 1950s called and they want their attitudes back! https://www.security4women.org.au/policy-reforms-needed-to/

14.01.2022 "Building financial security takes time and is the result of consistent, proactive action. But for many women, the inability to dedicate this time and space to our finances perpetuates the economic insecurity we face. What’s worse is that the impact of neglecting our financial wellbeing compounds over time, further cementing our position of financial vulnerability. In many ways, one could argue that the unequal distribution of the mental load is literally robbing women. Physically, mentally and financially." https://womensagenda.com.au//the-invisible-work-of-women-/

05.01.2022 This is an Australian forum initiated by Lacey from the Money School, with the input of an array of experts in the field of financial capability and wellbeing. There are some great topics being presented/debated, with a focus on the perspective of women. "For our inaugural Money Debates event, we're focusing on the female perspective. It's no secret that women face some unique challenges when it comes to personal finance.... Women are also facing a disproportionate fall-out from the COVID-19 pandemic, as we stare down the barrel of a 'pink collar' recession - the first in nearly 30 years for Australia." Tickets are $11 inclusive of all the sessions, details in the link. Details in the link. https://money-debates.heysummit.com/

03.01.2022 The gender pay gap is real, and is even greater for women of colour and women with disabilities.
