25.01.2022 Sometimes (just sometimes), we let David choose a few things for the shop. Heres his selection of Italian linen tea towels (just arrived). If there is nothing you like, we do have more than three dozen Italian linen designs you can choose from! https://finchlane.com.au//tea-towels-tessitura-toscana-te/

25.01.2022 Good morning everyone, hope you had as good a weekend as you could. Today for our 'Wish I was there' images we are going to leave Bilbury and head North. It's a short 60km drive before we arrive at the birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon. Such a picturesque town, well worth the visit.

25.01.2022 This is the Milan pattern, a re-creation of a design found in one of the century-old pattern archives of Bronte by Moon (Yorkshire). The Lilac version was the first colour released becoming a popular design in the last 12 months or so. Bronte released more colours, two arrived yesterday: the Milan Saffron and the Milan Skye Aqua. There are other colours, which is your favourite? (like or comment to let us know).

24.01.2022 Its Spring! David took this a few years ago in our garden, on the first day of spring - one flower had blossomed; one bee had found it. After a challenging year for everyone, perhaps this new season will bring us all some relief. Have a lovely day and a safe and wonderful spring.

24.01.2022 We took pictures of our Italian table runners the other day (this one is called La Vie En Rose). We didnt use them all, but last night when looking through the images we spotted the shadow cast from our shop door. Its a sign!

24.01.2022 Satisfying. Hand decorating British pottery. Polka Paws pet bowls by Emma Bridgewater. Available online or instore. [sound on]

24.01.2022 Stole this image from our UK partner, Newey & Bloomer (est. 1851) social media page. This is the Buckingham whistling kettle in the final stages of production in Birmingham, where they are still handmade by British craftsman.

23.01.2022 We've some exciting new brands coming in the new few months. One of the first to arrive is a very small shipment of ceramics out of Italy. 'Small' because we have a larger one due in a couple of months (by sea). Handmade in the Umbria region of Italy since 1965. View the range here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/nuovacer/

23.01.2022 We are excited to announce the latest product partner to join Finch & Lane. Lucy Dawson hails from Suffolk and her company is called Bella Art. We have a small shipment just arrived of some of her incredibly beautiful, and somewhat luxurious handmade British products. View more on our website.

22.01.2022 Kate of Kensington Marble Platters has been very popular since we introduced them last October. Doubling as a trivet or a food platter theyre available in three sizes and a multitude of British flora and fauna inspired designs. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/kate-of-kensington/

22.01.2022 Scottish born Clare Baird is a gifted artist whose designs we import across a number of lines. Luckily, before the world changed, Stephanie and Clare were able to get together for a cup of tea and scones and discuss her products in Australia. Understandably supply has been disrupted in recent months, but a few of her new designs have just arrived. You can view her range on our website too. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/clare-baird/

22.01.2022 Fathers Day is really not far away...

21.01.2022 At 7:43am this morning (21 June) it was officially Winter Solstice (Southern Hemisphere). That means the daylight hours will be longer and spring is getting close. We can feel it already!

20.01.2022 A foggy start to Day One. Dont forget you can call us or go online to view our products; we are still open and we do deliver.

20.01.2022 We are very thankful we can get beautiful linen products out of Italy as we look to replenish our stock. Something new this week is the Tovaglietta which translates to Small Tablecloth - you may know them as Table Toppers. Seven stunning designs to choose from.

20.01.2022 Had a note from someone in Sydney who saw our shop front featured in a news article on 9News last night (as part of the lockdown news). Of all the shop fronts in Melbourne they could have chosen! (This image/post is from earlier in the year). Our online store is still operating (www.finchlane.com.au) shipping every weekday (we do offer safe click and collect too.)

20.01.2022 Where did that week go?! Well, some new arrivals from Italy this week, including this rather gorgeous Monreale Tablecloth. These are made from Panama Cotton, which is the name for the type of weave involving two threads instead of the usual one. You end up with a durable material that is comfortable, practical and long-lasting. Beautiful. Find our Italian made range of tablecloths, tea towels and more, here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/tessitura-toscana-telerie/

20.01.2022 Last drinks were called in England overnight as they go into Lockdown for a month. Having just come out of 112 days of our own lockdown we know what they are going through. We wish all our relatives, friends and business partners a safe month.

19.01.2022 'Stole' this image from our UK partner, Newey & Bloomer (est. 1851) social media page. This is the Buckingham whistling kettle in the final stages of production in Birmingham, where they are still handmade by British craftsman.

19.01.2022 Hello everyone, for those of us in Lockdown 2.0 - we're so (soooo) bored, but we're nearly there. With that in mind, we thought we might post some "Wish I Was There" images of places around Britain that are just a little isolated, but there's beauty in that isolation don't you think...? And yes, we still are offering Click & Collect as well as normal online shopping.

19.01.2022 Good morning everyone. Here's a few 'wish I was there' images of St. Mawes in Cornwall. One of our suppliers (Thorns & Roseway) is from Cornwall. Have a great week.

19.01.2022 Emma Bridgewater Update. The Strawberry, and Dandelion ranges (delayed due to Suez Canal saga); our tracking has them now off the coast of WA so, perhaps 2-3 weeks. And the God Save the Queen mug you see? We have just two left in stock and then, discontinued...

19.01.2022 The Highland Cow features as a design in many products we import from the UK, and with good reason. Its so cute!

18.01.2022 Just arrived, direct from Italy. TipTapp floor mats, use inside or outside. Hard-wearing and machine washable.

18.01.2022 A bit of fun and travel arrived yesterday. English cotton tea towels with art by Suffolk local Diz Andrews. We already sell the Four Seasons collection but weve now begun adding the British cities/towns range. Well add more as soon as we can. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/stuart-morris/

18.01.2022 As you know, we only import Italian made Linen and British made Cotton Tea Towels. But did you know we stock some 60 different designs?! In a couple of weeks we have some new Watercolours of Britain designs arriving. Want to know when they land? Just click add to waitlist on the product page... https://finchlane.com.au/product-tag/tea-towels/

17.01.2022 Father's Day is really not far away...

17.01.2022 Good morning everyone, especially to those in Lockdown 2.0 For today's 'wish I was there' images we travel north 65kms, from St Mawes on the east coast of England to Port Isaac on the west (still in Cornwall). Also known as "Portwenn" for a favourite TV show of ours: Doc Martin. Have a great week.

17.01.2022 Weve decided to release some "cheer-us-up" lines a little early. You may remember when I was at the UK & Europe Trade Shows in February (so long ago it seems!) I posted images of some Christmas lines I saw. One of them was a range of British designed and made advent calendars for Highgrove House. Well, they arrived this week and weve decided to release them now. Buy them online for immediate delivery or click & collect to suit you. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/alison-gardiner/

16.01.2022 We're in Germany today! Founded in 1768, the publishing company Coppenrath focuses on children's stories and activity books, gift books for adults AND (we think you will agree) the most amazing collection of beautifully designed advent calendars. You may remember I was in the UK and Europe early this year (so long ago now) - I was lucky enough to see these in person - and now, direct from Germany, they are here in our store. View the range: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/cop...penrath/ P.S Check out the Musical Advent Calendar - a different Christmas tune behind each door!

16.01.2022 Very pleased! Yesterday a top-up shipment along with some new designs arrived from Mosney Mill (England). Superb quality (British made) these beautiful Aprons and Double Oven gloves will make great gifts. We also added a new child's apron. Full range on our website: https://finchlane.com.au/

16.01.2022 We're back! Happy New Year! A couple of new windows to start the year (we've not displayed a table with our Italian tablecloths in the window before). A reminder that this time of year you can have lovely table settings indoors or outdoors. Wishing you all a safe and happy 2021. Take care this year everyone.

15.01.2022 The long-awaited new shipment from Kate of Kensington has arrived from England! Handmade in Essex these Italian marble platters/trivets feature gorgeous water-colour designs. We have a number of new designs (and the return of some favourites) and for the first time, we have coasters and diffusers. Plus we have lot of different greetings cards - and of course, all made in the UK. View the range here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/kate-of-kensington/

15.01.2022 As you know we only import and sell British made or Italian made homewares, so when you have one product that is both... Kate of Kensington platters/trivets are handmade in Essex from Italian marble, the watercolour art is inspired by British flora and fauna. The platters are food-safe AND heat resistant; you can display them when not in use or let your imagination run wild! And they make wonderful gifts for you...or for them. ;) https://finchlane.com.au/brand/kate-of-kensington/

15.01.2022 Good morning everyone, especially to those in Lockdown 2.0 For todays wish I was there images we travel north 65kms, from St Mawes on the east coast of England to Port Isaac on the west (still in Cornwall). 15.01.2022 These pure Merino Throws have just arrived from the UK. The two throws in front are actually the same throw. Yes, this Multi-Block Throw is reversible. Bronte by Moon, woven in Yorkshire since 1837.

14.01.2022 The Monreale Tablecloth made in Florence Italy. Beautiful. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/tessitura-toscana-telerie/

14.01.2022 A relaxing video to start the weekend...

14.01.2022 When it comes to choices, we like to think we offer a few. This wall displays eight designs from Kate of Kensington (UK) - we have fourteen designs/four sizes in our store! You can also see nearly 80(!) different Tea Towel designs (from Italy & the UK) and more than a dozen different Apron designs (all made in the UK). Then in the rest of the store...

14.01.2022 Happy Father's Day to Dads everywhere.

12.01.2022 Last stop of the week is Preston, in Lancashire, northern England where we find our newest brand partner, Mosney Mill. Owner Emma Sutton has designed and produced a fabulous range of superb quality British homewares. We have just landed a very small (preview) selection this week - we think they will make wonderful gifts for you or for someone else! ;) As well as adult aprons, for the first time, we have the loveliest children's aprons; just beautiful (and fully adjustable). View here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/mosney-mill/

11.01.2022 Leaving Port Isaac and travel north; a 3hr drive to the Cotswolds for this week's 'Wish I Was There' images. Bibury, population 600(ish) and once described as "the most beautiful village in England". Probably the most photographed cottages in Britain are on Arlington Row, Bibury. Originally built as a wool store in 1380 and then converted to weaver's cottages in the 17th century. They call the Cotswolds the Walking Capital of Britain, but even a drive is rewarded with some beautiful villages and scenery.

11.01.2022 Our new, British made 100% Merino Lambswool Wraps, are truly quite gorgeous; they measure 70cm x 185cm, so that's a lot of wool to keep you cosy. We've added seven designs to our store, so along with our new arrivals in Scarfs and Throws we think we're ready for winter.

11.01.2022 Some two hours south of Florence is Perugia, where our brand partner, Nuovo Cer has been handmaking ceramics since 1965. Our first shipment (August) was snapped up and despite not quite being in full production mode after their summer holidays, Stefano bumped us up the queue and kindly got an urgent shipment away to us. As well as topping up the sold-out range we've added a new range. View here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/nuovacer/

09.01.2022 Just in from Florence, the last shipment until after summer holidays in Italy. Two new, jaw-dropping designs. The Borea is available in a Tablecloth, Table Runner and/or Tea Towel. https://finchlane.com.au/brand/tessitura-toscana-telerie/

08.01.2022 What day is it? Oh boy, this extended lockdown is tough. Still, at least the British are heading into winter soon, and as this weeks Wish I Was There images show, its going to be tough for them as it is for us. Or not.

07.01.2022 A beautiful day here in Melbourne as the morning sun splashes across the colours of our Italian linen table runners.

07.01.2022 Stay warm this weekend, and don't forget your greens. Vegetable Garden by Emma Bridgewater. https://finchlane.com.au/product-tag/veg-garden/

You'll find them here: https://finchlane.com.au/brand/bronte-by-moon/
