21.01.2022 For those who are happy to paddle a few km to see paradise, Snapper Island is one for the bucket list. Only 2.5km off shore and surrounded by coral reef, this is paradise. Don't forget to bring a snorkle. http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=1722

20.01.2022 http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=352 A great photo just posted on FindaCamp of Rapid Bay Campground. This just about sums up a perfect place to park your van to me :)

20.01.2022 For the first time in 6 years a Pygmy Possum has been found in the Pilliga National Park. It's exciting news for both the region and the Australian Wildlife Con...servancy, who have been working hard to reintroduce native marsupials to the Pilliga as part of the Saving Our Species conservation program. Australian Wildlife Conservancy's CEO Atticus Fleming joined Caitlin Furlong on breakfast for a chat about this gorgeous little marsupial. (Image courtesy of the Australian Wildlife Conservancy)

19.01.2022 ...and more Sunbirds, these can hover almost as well as humming birds (you can hear their wings beating before you see them). The one with a blue chest is the male.

19.01.2022 For anyone planning on camping at M V Beagle at Inskip Point, you might want to change your plans. Thankfully nobody was injured, however some vehicles and caravans were destroyed. http://www.findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php

18.01.2022 http://tours.bushandboat.com.au In case you were wondering what we do for a day job (when not out camping)... ...this is it. It's a hard life...

18.01.2022 http://www.findacamp.com.au/article.php?article=1 One of our members has written a very entertaining story of his first time camping. It made me chuckle.

16.01.2022 http://www.findacamp.com.au/search-accommodation.php OK, so you can now search for accommodation on FindaCamp, it is in "Beta" mode at the moment, and uses the same mapping interface as the bush camping searches. Of course we would all rather be camping anyway....

16.01.2022 http://ecosystemservices.biz/projects.html I have been lucky enough to have rode shot gun on a couple of projects these guys have done, surveying national parks in NSW. It was fascinating to see the process, and science behind mapping national parks, conservation areas and the ecosystems in them.

15.01.2022 One of the things I love most about camping is seeing an area in the evening and at night. These were taken in Iron Range National Park http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=1697

14.01.2022 For those heading north of Cairns, this site uses data from Findacamp for the campground section, but has lots of other information that may be useful. Enjoy, and happy camping.

14.01.2022 An amazing wildlife refuge has been rediscovered in a remote Kimberley rainforest! The Uunguu Indigenous Rangers from WA's far north Kimberley have documented a...n amazing variety of native wildlife on Cape Bougainville. Camera traps stationed for six months in the rainforest yielded images that stunned both scientists and traditional landowners. Healthy populations of Northern quoll, Northern brown bandicoots, Golden-backed tree rats and Short-eared rock wallabies have been found species that are vanishing from other parts of northern Australia. The discovery is the result of research initiated by the Wunambal Gaambera people, the area’s Native Title holders. The Wilderness Society is working to protect Cape Bougainville from possible bauxite mining by Rio Tinto and Alcoa, and to have the area included in the fantastic new Kimberley parks proposed by the WA Government. 13.01.2022 Got a sneak peak at the resurrection of Koala Resort, one of the best campgrounds in Australia. They have been closed for quite a while now, and are just about to re-open. http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=1673 If you are heading north of the Daintree River, put this on the list.

12.01.2022 We get some great updates on campgrounds from members on findacamp, but this one from Bazzao is my current favourite. Includes tips for photography, snapping turtles and cricket puns. What else could you want? http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=647

07.01.2022 This Rainbow Bee Eater had to prove that he was the prettiest. First he came and showed me his coat of many colours, then went and sat next to the same Sunbird I photographed the other day. He wins...

06.01.2022 Thanks to Maggi from https://sunrisetoday.wordpress.com/ for adding some great new campsites and photos.

06.01.2022 For those that don't mind carrying your camping gear on your back, this is one of the best walks I have done. Starting at Thungutti Campground in the New England National Park http://findacamp.com.au/camp-site.php?camp=1391 and heading downhill (very steeply in spots) all the way to Thora. Multiple river crossings, great swimming and majestic scenery.

04.01.2022 We are pretty excited to offer a new trip, doing something that has been a passion of mine for 25 years (not quite as long as kayaking). Photography tours on th...e Daintree River in our dedicated 5 metre boat with room for 4 passengers. http://tours.bushandboat.com.au//Wildlight-Daintree-Rive/6 See more
