25.01.2022 Join us online tomorrow, Sunday 10AM - The END of MYSTERY

25.01.2022 I recently heard a British atheist and professor of history, Prof. Tom Holland (not the one who played Spiderman), interviewed by Breakpoint's Shane Morris, who... has researched the historical claims of Christianity compared with the historical claims of Islam. His findings were presented in a BBC4 documentary which aired in Britain and were due to be aired another three times but weren't due to the number of protests from Muslims to the BBC. He found that, unlike Islam, there is a tremendous amount of evidence for the historical claims of Christianity. He went on to discuss the invaluable contribution that Christianity has given to the world because of the Judeo-Christian ethics which undergird our understanding of the intrinsic value of human being and form the basis of "human rights". He also expressed his deep admiration for Jesus of Nazareth. When asked by Shane Morris about his own religious journey, he shared how as a young boy he found the claims by his Anglican Sunday-School teacher that Noah took the dinosaurs onto the Ark to be ludicrous and therefore concluded that the Bible could not be true, and by extension then, neither could Christianity. But over the years, as he has specialised in near Eastern ancient history, he has increasingly been "warmed" to Christianity largely due to its ethics and historical verifiability. He describes his journey to this point of his life as being like someone outside in the cold on a winter's night, looking longingly through the window of Christianity where a warm fire is glowing and inviting those out in the cold to come inside. Yet, he still, to this day, cannot reconcile the irreconcilable scientific claims of the Bible that the universe is only a few thousand years old when the historical evidence so clearly refutes this. This, he said, was why he was still "outside looking longingly in" but, he continued, he has reached a stage in his life when he may just have to dismiss this objection and embrace that there are many mysteries in the life and his spiritual quest is increasingly become one where he was becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable notion that mystery should not be a deal-breaker to accepting the immense value that Christianity brings to people's lives. Tomorrow, at Legana, I begin a short series, called. "The Mystery Series" which I dedicate to Professor Tom Holland and the many others around the world who are on a similar journey of discovery about the spiritual realm. www.facebook.com/leganacc/ See more

13.01.2022 Repentant Not Religious 'The Kingdom Of God' is definitely a term you're going to come across when reading any of the gospels in the new testament. It is a topi...c which Jesus spoke about often and regarded of the utmost importance, but what did he mean? In this sermon series, Dr Andrew Corbett is unpacking The Kingdom Of God and where we are likely to find it. In this video, Dr Corbett demonstrates how radical Jesus' teachings were and how they called out the religious elite. https://legana.tv

08.01.2022 The idea that we in Australia live in a "secular" nation is false! We live in a "democratic" nation where everyone's views contribute on their merits. Thus, we ...have never had a doctrine of 'Separation of Church and State', rather, we have always had a 'cooperation between Church and State' in our democracy. This means that the view of a Christian leader is not simply dismissed because its proponent is 'religious', but that their is evaluated on its merits. Therefore, when a Church leader speaks out against non-life promoting policy agendas, they are not merely "forcing their religion onto others" they are defending one of the most basic human rights of all people regardless of their religion the right to live! The clip below is a snippet of an address I recently delivered with several politicians in attendance. #politics #religion #humanrights #ethics #Church #State #publicpolicy #legislation #Tasmania #secularmyths See more
