25.01.2022 Screening in blackbutt to create a BBQ backdrop and hide an old wall in this Manly backyard project. The treated timber frame and old wall was painted black to protect the timber and give the effect the that the frame disappears. Blackbutt is one of the more affordable Australian hardwoods with lovely, warm honeycomb hues. We worked with our client having materials delivered early so the blackbutt could be pre-stained. ... Timbers are fixed using stainless steel screws to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.

13.01.2022 Did you know the history of Colorbond steel? It all hails back to the use of corrugated iron sheets in England hundreds of years ago. By corrugating the sheets, it was realised a strong, lightweight building material could be produced. In the mid 19th century, an ambitious 25year old Irish lad by the name of John Lysaght started exporting these sheets to Australia. Fast forward to 2021 and these sheets now come in various metals (iron, zinc, aluminium and of course steel), pa...inted in a vast range of colours, and used in roofing, cladding, guttering, down pipes and, not to forget, fencing and gates! Colorbond is a trade name for Bluescope Steel, of which Lysaght is one of the manufacturers. There are about a dozen of these manufacturers across Australia, and over the years we have used a lot of them in the various Colorbond fences we install. The manufacturer we keep coming back to though is Gramline. Their product is next level in terms of quality, and they focus purely on fencing and gates. Here’s a few pics from a recent project in Belrose.

13.01.2022 This week we’ve been busy on this cedar gate in Freshwater. Clad on both sides with custom welded frame and Digi Latch to allow easy access for that afternoon beach trip Thanks to our client Alex from A Grade Landscapes

13.01.2022 I love these D&D SureClose self closing hinges. The hydraulics in them provide a solidly assured, smooth self-close action. Perfect for all sorts of gates and easily adjustable should the gate move over time.

12.01.2022 Sad but true that whenever we go away we cant but help noticing quirky fences. This acorn picket we spotted up in Leura this weekend. Just cant quite work out what the holes in the pickets are for
