The St Mary’s markets well be back on September 5 And better yet we’re going to be there but not as you know us, this season we have a new and bigger focus on providing Quality organic seedlings.. not just your standard varieties but hopefully ones you’ve never heard of before even heirloom varieties as well as herbs and some flowers That attract the beneficial bugs. As this is our first season providing seedlings for your veggie gardens we are cautiously starting out small with the intention of adding more varieties as we go but it’s all depending on your reaction and support. We will be selling our seedlings once a month at the St Mary‘s markets at this stage But we have some exciting news to share with you tomorrow so keep a look out for tomorrow’s post.

24.01.2022 The following is a description of the broccoli and cauliflower seedlings varieties we will have throughout the growing season. Broccoli ‘Green Sprouting’ Heirloom Italian variety producing tender, mild tasting, deep blue-green central heads, continues producing side shoots for several weeks after harvesting the main shoot. Seed is suitable for sprouting. Sunny, well-drained position in a humus-rich, well-drained soil. Withstands late autumn cold.... Broccoli 'Purple Sprouting' Calabrese type variety, producing many purple medium-sized heads. Blue green leaves. 70-75cm high. Highly nutritious, the benefits of Broccoli are greatly reduced if the vegetable is boiled more than ten minutes. Sunny, well-drained position and plant in a humus-rich well-drained soil. Broccoli 'Waltham' Large head forming variety with compact plants. Produces lots of side shoots. Excellent flavour. High yields. Very cold tolerant. Great all purpose variety. Full sun and best in rich, fertile, well-drained soil, however the addition of too much manure will create abundant leaves and small heads. Cauliflower 'Mini' Small compact white heads. Great for smaller garden spaces and containers. To 50cm high; space seedlings 20cm apart. Sunny position in fertile moist well-drained soil. Tie outer leaves over white head when visible. Monitor pests. Cauliflower 'Purple Sicilian' Regional variety from Sicily. Purple florets with fine texture and good flavour. High mineral content. Excellent taste both raw and cooked and freezes very well. Use raw for an intriguing colour in salads and dips. Warm sunny position in fertile moist well-drained soil. Cauliflower 'Snowball' Small to medium tight solid white heads 15-20cm across. Extremely hardy and well suited to warmer regions. Plant in warm sunny position in fertile moist well-drained soil. Tie outer leaves over white head when visible. Monitor pests.
