12.01.2022 Here’s number 2 in the collection.

12.01.2022 After a bit of a break we’re back with our fourth release in a series of twelve songs, all covers of great Melbourne songwriters, re-interpreted and recorded in... isolation by some amazing local musicians. Agenda 21 (fields a’ burning) by Stuart Black features: Paddy Cummings - Vocals, Piano Brett Wood - Many, many Guitars, Drums Claire Cummings - Vocals Mark Brunott - Bass, Mandolin Stuart Black was my musical and songwriting collaborator in the late 80’s through to the mid 90’s, fronting Darkhorse and Minor Detail prior to that. Before that Stu fronted Regular Boys with Josie Jason and drummed with blues legends Pip and Gerry Joyce in Joyce Brothers. I met Stuart at an audition for a NZ born again christian hair metal band. Neither of us Kiwis or born again christians, at least we had hair metal in common. He said that as well as drumming he could sing lead, so we took off and started writing tunes for our own band, and that was that. Stuart has an unstoppable and unforgettable voice, a unique meld of soft celtic timbre, blues journeyman and menacing rock growl, and none of us had ever heard anything like him, and would never again. He has a sense of melody and placement that will slice through modes and scales but sit on the ear like there was never any other way to hear it. Agenda 21 (fields a’burning) was written in the late 80’s for today’s existential crisis, and opening this time capsule it is eerie to hear the resonations of his worries realising themselves today before our eyes. I hope you enjoy Brett, Claire, Mark and myself as we reinterpret Stu’s timeless and relevant song. Brett set this one up, playing drums as well as guitars and establishing the foundation mix for us to add our parts. 12.01.2022 Just released - incredibly talented young singer, writer and musician

10.01.2022 Episode 8 of Season 1 of 11 Degrees - Song from Melbourne, features the captivating and earnest 'Fernando' by musical genius Hue Blanes. At least it was earnest... until we got our hands on it. Fernando is a single of Hue Blanes' 2018 record Holiday. The album was written while he was living with a schizophrenic golfing marijuana shaman who spent 8 hours a day shaking maracas on his knees whilst massaging himself and giving complex advice on posture and world politics to the other housemates and myself Things needed to change. Hue wrote songs and got some new housemates. Meanwhile the shaman is living in a volcano in Nicaragua and having a great time and he released the album 3 years later and was still in the same house. These days Hue resides in and creates modal musical magic from The Netherlands. Speaking on the single, Fernando, Hue explains, It’s about a troubled world famous soccer player and what I may have in common with him. I was wondering if hugely successful sports players suffered loneliness and anxiety and when I read a story about one of my favourite players Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima from Brazil having a setback before a crucial game in the World Cup, I decided to write about the story from my perspective. Andy, Gaz, Caleb, Narelle and myself decided to park the bus in front of the goal and apply some World Cup musical pressure to Hue's gentle and melancholy tune. I hope you enjoy this song as much as we did making it. 09.01.2022 Episode Six is here :)

06.01.2022 8.30 pm Monday - episode 12.

06.01.2022 Episode 9 - Into the Fire (Nicholas Roy). I’ve been a bit of a Nicholas Roy fanboy for a very long time. Long before I met him, gigged with him and realised tha...t as well as being musically awesome, he is humanly awesome. I heard It’s 'All My Fault' on the radio one day, back in the day, and rang the radio station to find out who it was. Since then Nick’s tunes have been a staple in my music library, way back from my inaugural iTunes Library, until now. 'Into The Fire' was always going to be on the 11 Degrees project. It should have been a worldwide smash. Instead, I called in the smash crew, enlisting the help of Adrian Violi and Dan Lijnders to lay it down real funky, and Sally Van Der Zwart to bring her melodic excellence, not to mention the slinky RNB breakdown. Hang up the face mark, get comfy, I hope you enjoy this song as much as we did making it.
