19.01.2022 National Sleepy Head Day (Finnish: Unikeonpäivä) is a yearly celebration in Finland observed July 27. This holiday is related to the legend of the Seven Sleepers of Ephesus, but rather than a religious festival, it is more of an informal celebration. The tradition of the Sleepy Head Day traces back to the Middle Ages, when the belief was that the person in the household who slept late on this day would be lazy and non-productive for the rest of the year. In the old days, the last person sleeping in the house (also dubbed as the "laziest") could be woken up by using water, either by being thrown into a lake or the sea, or by having water thrown on them. Here are Finncare residents and staff feeling sleepy.

16.01.2022 FINNCARE AGM 27/09/2020 The Finncare Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday 27 September, starting at 1.00pm. It will be held in the Helsinki Room at Finncare (343 Cleveland Redland Bay Road, Thornlands). Brisbane members are strongly encouraged to attend, as our numbers will be impacted by border closures due to COVID-19. This is your opportunity to be one of the first to see the progress of our new residential rooms as they are being built! The Board recognises that, due to the restrictions associated with COVID-19, all members will not necessarily be able to attend the AGM in person this year. To allow as many people to engage with the proceedings as possible, we will live stream the meeting on YouTube as it takes place. Please copy the following link into your internet browser to access the live stream: https://youtu.be/oK7DSy0p55k Note that you will not be able to see anything via this link until we begin streaming at 1.00pm on the 27th September.
