23.01.2022 BEEN STRUCK DOWN WITH A NASTY COLD? Kids turned into snot factories? Albany GP Dr James Turner says there’s been a large outbreak of a virus (no, not that one...!) called RSV, which stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus. It’s a virus that usually causes common cold symptoms, but it can take longer to get better. Sometimes people are unwell for a couple of weeks, Dr Turner said. Sometimes young children can get unwell and need to be admitted into hospital, usually just for some support with oxygen, sometimes to be able to feed adequately. And then they get discharged once the body’s own immune system deals with the virus. RSV has run through a lot of schools, day care centres and therefore families. So what’s the cure? Well, there isn’t really one. Dr Turner says it’s a case of supporting your symptoms until you get better in your own time. It’s not very pleasant, especially for kids, he said. When they become unwell, often they have a very high feverso something to help bring the fever down will make them feel more comfortable something like paracetamol or Nurofen. Honey and lemon can help to soothe a sore throat and it’s also best to avoid too much alcohol when you’ve got a respiratory virus, Dr Turner added. The good news is that although you feel terrible for a few days it does eventually pass, unlike some illnesses where it’s a bit more serious, he said.

13.01.2022 Dear Families It has been seven months since the new Child Care Subsidy started! It is a good time to check in on your family income estimate. Make sure it is up to date and reflects your and your partners income for the whole financial year. If your estimate is lower than your actual income, you may get a debt, which you will have to pay back. It is also a good time to check and update your activity test if your circumstances have changed.... The easiest way to update your family income estimate is by using your Centrelink online account through myGov, or the Express Plus Centrelink app. While you are there, do not forget to make sure your and your partners activity details are up to date too.

13.01.2022 Our staff do their best to keep hygenic and sanitised learning environments; but it is a bit tricky without the support of some parents. Please keep your child home if they have any of the below symptoms! Thanks.

05.01.2022 Hi Families!! This email was sent to me last night to inform us of the next step that families need to take in order to prepare for the end of free childcare! You must confirm your income or submit your tax return for last year before the 30th of June or your subsidy will not begin when it is time to begin paying again! It is also noted that Centrelink WILL NOT backpay for any sessions of care if the families have not confirmed their income.
