19.01.2022 See Your Success Youve heard of visualization, right? However, the odds are that because of what youve heard you probably dont have a very good opinion of the entire visualization process. Youre likely lumping visualization into the same category as crystals and dream catchers. Thats a shame. Visualization doesnt deserve the bad rap its received. The first thing that you need to do is dissuade yourself from all the preconceptions that you may have in regard to visualiz...ation. This is a powerful process that can bring real results to any business owner. Thats because visualization is a natural part of our make-up. Let me explain. A long time ago, before any real technologies had been developed, our species had to hunt in order to live. Sure, we could gather some food, but the real caloric goodies came from the meat of the animal we hunted. This meant that hunting was an extremely important activity. You could say it was a life and death activity. Because of this, hunters took their job very seriously. When they prepared for a hunt, they sought to gain every advantage they could over the prey that they were trying to bring down. One of the things that they did was to imagine the coming hunt in as much detail as they could muster. They would see their prey. They would see how they were going to stalk the prey. They would see themselves being successful and bringing home the meat that their people so desperately needed. This practice run through before the hunt gave them an advantage when the real event occurred. They were ready for any eventuality and prepared to make the correct moves no matter what happened. This ability to visualize future events became part and parcel of our genetic makeup. This means that each of us still has this ability to this day. However, instead of using it to gain an advantage in hunting prey, we are able to use it to gain an advantage in any important event that we are faced with. See more

04.01.2022 HAVE TOU EVER SOLD A BUSINESS? Prospective clients often ask me: Have you ever sold a [INSERT YOUR INDUSTRY HERE] business? My standard response is as follows:... All businesses are inherently the same. What do I mean by this? All businesses have the following basic elements: Inventory Debtors Cashflow Revenue Net Profit Staff Let me explain 1. INVENTORY Almost all businesses have Inventory, in one form or another. Even a Professional Services firm will have Inventory in the form of Work-In-Progress (billable work done but not yet invoiced). This is its Inventory (and should be capitalized to the Balance Sheet). 2. DEBTORS Most businesses will have invoices that it has raised and issued, to its customers, that have not yet been paid. Even if your customers pay you strictly within 30 days, there will still be an element that remains unpaid at any particular month-end (and at the financial year-end). 3. CASHFLOW All businesses require cashflow to operate this is the lifeblood of a business. Without it, it will wither and die. 4. REVENUE All for-profit companies have a type of revenue whether it be in the form of the sale of goods or products; services; etc. 5. NET PROFIT The Net Profit is derived after deducting all the companies running costs from the Revenue. This figure can be either positive or negative. All businesses will have a calculable Net Profit. 6. STAFF All businesses have staff. Even if the staff consists of one person you. As the owner, you are still essentially a staff member. And you need to look at yourself as such. There are probably many other examples of the basic similarities between all businesses. And that is why we respond to prospective clients that, although we may not have sold a business in their exact industry sector, all businesses are inherently the same and therefore we will have the expertise and experience to take on their Sale Assignment.
