08.01.2022 Thanks so very much @timehiteeatsanddrinks Repost @timwhiteeatsanddrink ... TASTES OF ELATION Four things were on my mind as I ascended the South Eastern Freeway en route to Macclesfield. Actually, it was four small plates of food that were fixed in my head: 1., heritage tomatoes in ajo blanco; 2., a confit salad of more tasty tomatoes with chèvre and lentils; 3., chorizo (from Fleurieu Berkshire piggies, I think) with braised-wilted witlof; concluding with the most tongue-coating and gently cinnamon and citrus peel scented of crema catalanas. Actually a fifth too: chargrilled sourdough focaccia. Five sublime food things @finovino_adelaide ‘Thank you’, David (Swain) and Sharon (Romeo) I thought as I climbed steeply upwards to the Adelaide Hills. So, so good. These dishes will reside long in sensory memory methinks, although that perfect pudding has been locked in there since Fino first opened its doors in Willunga in ’06. New additions to the gastronomic filing cabinet are also the rabbity rice (alongside sublime Cayeteno del Pino Palo Cortado) which I experienced shortly after Fino Vino reopened post lockdown in June. Also the school prawns flashed in chilli and garlic (perfect with @chalmerswine ’19 Rosato). And mulloway crudo, and kangaroo prosciutto; while Swain pretty much owns Tommy Ruffs. Fino Vino is but ten minutes walk from my front door. Not for the first time in this past ten months I’ve reflected on how fortunate is me. How fortunate are we, to have so many special things so close to home. PS. As it happens Fino Vino is hosting a #longtablesessions dinner with @ tonight. Crema Catalana with Ruby Bitters anyone? I think so. Although don’t know so.
