25.01.2022 Eli is snaking its way further and further south along the edge of the dunes so people can spread out and have a piece of the creek to themselves. Also, because... of this, it's holding the water back, so it's much deeper than usual and also not flowing as fast. Its thigh depth all the way along the creek. Great for swimming!! Champagne Pools is also very quiet. It's not uncommon to have the place to yourself at the moment. This picture is at low tide so no champagne effect from waves crashing over the edge but the water is crystal clear and with fish swimming around, It's a good idea to join them. With not many people on the island, its a great time of year to enjoy these popular spots without the crazy crowds. So what are you doing at work? Get on up here while the days are still hot enough for a swim! See more

22.01.2022 Coronavirus -- we've understandably had a number of guests ask about the refund policy re Coronavirus. If you are unable to get to the house for any reason related to Coronavirus then we will of course issue a full refund or move the booking to a suitable date in the future. The choice is yours whether you want a refund or to move the booking. All the booking platforms are also promising to fully refund any booking fees (i.e. Airbnb, HomeAway, Stayz). It is a stressful ti...me for everyone so please don't worry about your deposits/payments if you need to go into quarantine/lockdown and can't make it, just let me know and we'll get it sorted out. All the best, Mark

21.01.2022 Beautiful time of year... !

20.01.2022 The effort put in by the town and the firefighters is incredible. The next few days will be very testing but everything possible is being done to protect Happy Valley. We are blessed with a fantastic community!!!

20.01.2022 How lucky am I ? Ideal days on Fraser - sunny clear sky, a nice flat beach, and a calm ocean. Book your holiday and come on over !!

17.01.2022 The first whale of the season! An amazing experience for our guests so early in the year... #visitfrasercoast #thisisqueensland #seeaustralia #tasmanventure

16.01.2022 The Queensland government has made the decision to stop visitor access to Fraser Island. Obviously the 100% refund policy will apply until the closure is lifted! Fingers crossed this passes as quickly as possible, if you have any questions please let me know. I'll keep you informed of any developments as they happen

16.01.2022 Did you know the downstairs BBQ is a Weber Family Q? It has the pizza stone and trivet so you can cook your own pizzas, as well as roasting and BBQing. To make the most of the WeberQ you want to pre-heat and then cook with the lid down.... You can find out more here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/roasting-and-baking-faqs%E2%80/ And there are loads of recipes here: https://www.weberbbq.com.au/weber-recipes/ Any if you REALLY want to be an expert: https://www.weberbbq.com.au///Family-Q3000-handbook-LR.pdf

15.01.2022 Overnight stays are now permitted on the Island and we've got our first group coming in today!

13.01.2022 Another house upgrade done! We've put down a large concrete pad for car parking. Helps keep sand out of the house and gives you a great spot to park up 3 cars

13.01.2022 Some nice looking flathead at the weigh-in!

11.01.2022 What a great photo!

11.01.2022 Happy Valley in the news today... light aircraft went down right in front of Happy Valley. Everyone is ok but the plane has been claimed by the sea....

08.01.2022 Island update: Poyungan rocks is definitely impassible at the moment, even at extreme low tide. Everyone needs to take the track. Just be patient and allow down...hill traffic to pass. Yidney rocks is full of sand and can easily be passed along the beach. Speaking of the beach, the rough seas and big tides have made it great to drive on. But be careful you dont get caught by the incoming tide. It comes in fast and leaves little to no beach at all to drive on. See more

08.01.2022 Good size Taylor are still being caught off Happy Valley

07.01.2022 Had a new upstairs oven installed right before Covid lock down. These gas ovens only use a tiny amount of electricity, which is great when off-grid

05.01.2022 Happy Valley came under very serious fire threat yesterday but through amazing work by many many people the town was defended. 25mls of rain last night also ! The risk is much lower now, not totally out of the woods but in a much better position. Bring on more rain !!

04.01.2022 How beautiful is this! About the shot: "Hello, my name is Jess Gordon. I'm 14 years old. I live on the Sunshine Coast and love coming to Fraser Island for ho...lidays. I recently visited Fraser at Easter time and went up to Indian Head for a day trip. I took some great photos whilst I was there, one in particular stood out from the others. As I am a keen photographer I decided to enter this photo along with others into the Caloundra Rotary Club Photo Competition. I ended up winning the photo competition for my age group and the photo of Indian Head was judged runner up." Jess has kindly given us permission to share her amazing work with you all. The Sunshine Coast Photographic Competition was open to primary and secondary school children living on the Sunshine Coast, QLD. The theme for the inaugural competition covers two categories: - Animals - Natural Environment Well done, Jess! #fraserisland #visitfrasercoast #thisisqueensland
