22.01.2022 Red Back Scraper BIG breeding colony!!! Ok, so I will sadly have to sell off my big breeding colony of Red Back Scrapers. It would be awesome if someone wanted them all as they do really well as a big colony. I’ve been selling fry at 30-40mm at 3 for $50 ($17ea). From my fry ad: Haplochromis sp. "red back scraper" is a stunning African Cichlid that is now sadly believed to be extinct in the wild. Populations in the hobby were collected at Nyegezi Bay (northern Mwanza Gulf) i...n Lake Victoria in 1991 and have not been seen in the wild since. In the aquarium, they constantly forage for food around rocks and gravel. If there are plants in the aquarium, they are often observed picking algae off the plants without causing damage to the leaves. They are quite peaceful and I have not found them to be fussy feeders as they happily eat a range of good pellets and flakes. A very rare stunner that I am proud to keep The whole colony is 31-32 fish, it’s 7-8 males and 23-24 females. Sizes are about 70-150mm. 2 males and 7 females: $250 ($28ea) 4 males and 14 females: $475 ($26ea) All 7-8 males and 23-24 females: $750 (about $23ea, these are big fish and 30mm fry sell for $17ea!) I am in no rush to sell these as I will still have tanks up and running for another 2 months. 01.01.2022 Big 5500 liter 15 tank breeding system!!! (update: SOLD 6/9/2017!) For quickest response, please call me or send me a text message to 0408 823 989. Due to upcoming commitments I will be selling my biggest breeding rack. I'm putting this ad up early as it needs the right buyer which may take a little time to find. It's currently up and running with African Cichlids in it. Depending on how quickly the last of my breeding colonies sell, the aim is to have it ready for pick up ar...ound 23-30/9. Please note that it’s pick up only, I cannot offer delivery. Tanks (all except the 4x2x2 are drilled with bulkheads and strainers included): Seven 1220 (4 foot) x 610 x 500mm (372 liter) tanks Three 1220 x 610 x 450mm (335 liter) tanks One 1220 x 610 x610mm (455 liter) tank Four 610 x 610 x 500mm (185 liter) tanks Sump: 8-foot 2440 x 610 x 500mm high, 745 liter sump that can handle the full overflow in case of a power outage. It has had a crack that was professionally repaired more than a year ago with no problems or leaks. Total volume including sump is about 5550 liters. All on a heavy duty 50x50mm and 40x40mm powder coated SHS steel stand in 3 parts. Total length of the system the way I have had it is 3600mm and total height 2160 one side and 2200mm the other so it fits under the garage panel lift door. Since the tanks are back to back with a walkway behind, the total depth is 1700mm. This can easily be adjusted to smaller or bigger if you require it. All (except the 4x2x2 tank) are plumbed with individual pipes for each tank. Most tanks are professionally built by Michael Ellis and are very solid. The tanks have drilled holes at the back or side for a sump filter and come with all the bulk heads, strainers, taps and plumbing fittings to suit. An excellent and very functional system that can hold a LOT of fish with this oversized sump and pump to run it all. I have had more than 3500 African Cichlids on this system at once with Nitrates never hitting 40ppm. The sump is filled with about 50-70 litres of the best media around; Seachem Matrix, CerMedia MarinePure spheres and 3+ litres of Seachem Purigen. The media alone cost over $1900. The top of the range, energy efficient Italian Laguna Maxflo 16500 L/hr pump cost over $500 and sump was $550, so the replacement cost for just sump, media and pump is over $2900. With the stands and 15 tanks, plumbing and extras it’s over $12000. The tanks are in good condition. The stand has a bit of surface rust in some spots, but nothing that would compromise its structural integrity. Also included are sponge filters in each tank, most with K1 Kaldnes tops as a back-up and even more efficient filtration, and also a lot of little extras that I may have forgotten to mention.
