19.01.2022 A new women’s refuge in Kwinana was opened over the weekend by the Hon. Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence during th...e 16 Days in WA to Stop Violence Against Women. Operated by the The Lucy Saw Centre Association, the Andrea Mia refuge will deliver more family and domestic violence crisis accommodation in the southern corridor of Perth. The refuge is named in tribute to Ms Andrea Pickett, who passed away as a result of family and domestic violence in 2009. Her passing led to the Hope Inquest in 2012, which was a catalyst for significant change in the Western Australian family and domestic violence system. The name has been chosen with the permission and blessing of Ms Pickett’s family, who we thank for their support in opening the refuge. #16DaysinWA #StoptheViolence #RespectStartsWithYou
