25.01.2022 Fiomarine is pleased to be attending a Gear Demonstration Day hosted by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife showcasing ropeless fishing solutions. In attendance are various ropeless buoy developers and fishermen. The meeting aims to familiarise fishermen with ropeless technology. The need for ropeless fishing gear has risen due to the growing number of North Atlantic Right Whale deaths caused by surface buoys (~400 Right Whales left in the world).

22.01.2022 Last Friday, our team at Fiomarine enjoyed a visit from The Honourable Will Hodgman MP where we showcased the Fiobuoy and discussed the buoys utility in preventing the death of endangered marine wildlife in the fishing industry. We would like to thank all attendees for their time and the interest they shared in our product. We look forward to our future as a Tasmanian provider of globally significant marine equipment.

22.01.2022 Fishing lines are killing whales - Fiomarine is offering a solution to this problem... Fishermen use rope to connect seabed traps to surface buoys, whales and other marine life are prone to getting tangled in this rope. Multiply this scenario 1000's of times and we have a serious environmental problem, especially when considering the endangered species being entangled and killed. We need a solution that will remove the need for surface to seabed rope. 21.01.2022 It was a pleasure meeting with senior representatives from BecTech (President Steve Rosser and Vice President Mike Fierro) and Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore to discuss the Fiobuoy and its presence in the Defence industry. Discussion led to the entanglement problem faced in North America and how Fiomarine is providing a solution. Bectech is a US privately held engineering, program management and professional services company supporting US Navy, Missile Defence Agency, and International Navy programs. We look forward to growing our relations with the industries we serve, and appreciate opportunities to engage with like minded business' and individuals.

11.01.2022 On the 11th of February, Fiomarine will be attending the 2020 Gear Innovation Summit held in Nova Scotia, Canada. Over two days, the summit will bring together harvesters, technical experts, Indigenous partners, academia, nongovernment and government agencies at the regional, national and international levels. The summit will discuss and assess a range of technological options, both short- and long-term, to reduce the likelihood of large whale entanglements. Fiomarine is exc...ited to attend and showcase the features of its newest product, the Whale Safe Fiobuoy (WSF). The WSF combines modern technologies with proven underwater design to create an efficient, fisherman friendly submersible buoy, suitable for rapid deployment and retrieval in fishing operations. Summits like these are helping build the path towards a new age of whale safe fishing operations not just in Canada but around the world.
